Appartement Rive Gauche

Die geräumige Unterkunft befindet sich in einer relativ ruhigen Nebenstrasse im Herzen des Quartier Latin und die gut isolierten Fenster gewähren eine ungestörte Nachtruhe. Viele Sehenswürdigkeiten (z.B. Musee d‘Orsay, Jardin de Luxembourg oder auch der Louvre auf der Rive Droite) liegen in Gehdistanz und auch die nächste Metro-Station (Saint-Germain-des-Pres) ist in knapp fünf Minuten erreichbar. Die Einrichtung wirkt etwas zusammengewürfelt-unkonventionell, hat aber mehr Charakter als ein durchschnittliches Hotelzimmer. Die charmante Gastgeberin hat mich sehr freundlich empfangen.

Die Küche scheint auf den ersten Blick sehr gut ausgestattet: Vom Toaster bis zum Dampfkochtopf ist alles vorhanden. Jedoch war trotz intensiver Suche in sämtlichen Schränken und Schubladen keinerlei Besteck auffindbar. Und der (antike?) Steinboden ist zwar sauber, müsste aber unbedingt ausgebessert werden. Darum gibt es insgesamt keine Bestnote.

The host initially gave me instructions on where to collect the key once inside the building, but I did have to ask for the code to the front door to get inside. She then sent me a detailed instruction with pictures, so it was easy then. The kitchen was stocked with plates, cups, pots, and pans. The bed looked a bit small in the picture, but it was big enough for us. The location was great. It was within walking distance to a lot of the major attractions. There were restaurants nearby as well. The neighborhood was pretty quiet for the most part. The host was very accessible.

We were asked to not flush the toilet between midnight to 7 a.m., which was a bit inconvenient. We were also asked to be careful when opening or closing the door, but the door had to be pulled hard to be closed. The kitchen did not have any cooking or table utensils. It's an old building, and it didn't have a finished feel to it. The place could have been cleaner as well. The area under the kitchen sink smelled a bit moldy. The floor didn't feel that clean. There were stuff hanging down from the ceiling.

Loved the location to attractions that were important to us. Bed was super comfy the boho vibe was good.

The place felt a little unfinished, acknowledging it was a boho stay, the uninished tiling on the floor to the bathroom and lack of initial facilities compared to other countries. Attention to finer details would have made this an ideal experience.
