Sama Al Sharqiyah Camp

Amazing Bedouin camp in Wahiba Sands. Hassan and the 2 younger boys (Ali & Zaid) were very welcoming and hospitable. They welcomed us with coffee, fruit and dates, and made us feel right at home. Ahmed (the owner) was able to join later and also made us feel very welcome. The camp is beautiful, and the tent we had (twin beds) was very comfortable. The shared bathroom facilities are excellent. The camp was really easy to find from the coordinates provided in the booking. The road through the desert is fine if you want to self drive as long as you've deflated your tires and follow the usual desert driving rules. I particularly liked this camp as there aren't any other camps nearby, and you're right next to a huge dune. It's also far enough into the desert to get an amazing view of the stars at night. It's a nice walk up to the top of the dune for sunset and views across Wahiba Sands. Ahmed offered us activities but we just wanted to relax and enjoy the camp as we only had one night. Hassan and the boys cooked us a really delicious dinner (including bread baked on the fire), served traditional Bedouin style in the dining tent. We also got a nice breakfast the following morning. A bonus was that they have their herd of camels next to the camp, which you can help them feed and look after. All the camels have names and are really cute!

Everything was clean, the owner was always caring about us and make sure everything was ok with the rooms. The owner took care of us really well, the food was very good, he was cooking it in front of us. He had camels and we were able to help him feed the camels. I fully recommend the place to go and stay.
