Church Path House

The location and surroundings are excellent. The gardens are well looked after and it was very private and relaxing, especially with the view of the sea and Minehead beach. There was a lovely place to sit and have a fire - with access to logs - but the weather was too hot to make use of this! The communal rooms; lounge, dining/piano room and kitchen were spacious and comfortable - adequate for our needs. The piano and instruments were much appreciated. Everybody had clean, pleasant bedrooms too. The host Jamie and his son Tom were very friendly and extremely helpful and obliging. It was a short walk [10 mins] to the beach and seafront - with a nice swimming spot at high tide. We also enjoyed exploring the charity and antique shops. We had a very nice meal at the Old Ship Aground overlooking the harbour.

There was only a TV in the family room at the top of the house, however we did bring a monitor for our teenagers to watch films on in the evening and set this up in the lounge. We appreciate it may not be a necessity for others and watching TV was our preference. No dishwasher when we visited.

The house is delightful and has a wonderful atmosphere of warmth and charm. It is a great space for large groups with a huge dining room, large kitchen table, 3 sofas in the sitting room and plenty of large pots and pans to cook up big feasts. The location is great being a short walk into Minehead and the beach or follow the footpath at the back of the house onto Exmoor. There is a seating area at the end of the garden that has a great view of the sea. The parking area easily accommodated our three cars and the host was lovely.

I would have liked to know when booking that the host stayed in a separate flat on site but Jamie was very discreet and we were left to ourselves so it didn't bother us at all and he was also quick to respond to any questions.

Was in a group of 11 for a 70th birthday so we had the whole house. The "top" table vantage point was amazing in the evening. Glass of wine overlooking the whole of Minehead bay. What the house may have lacked in 5 star facilities it more than makes up for in character. Our whole group thought it was perfect for our purposes and we're planning on doing it again.

There was nothing we didn't like because we knew it wasn't going to be Buckingham Palace. Jamie the owner was very helpful and obliging prior to us arriving.
