We had a pleasant 2-night stay at Delightz Inn. The biggest highlights are the location, beautiful views, peaceful surroundings and fresh mountain air. If you want to relax and enjoy the Ooty weather rather than spend the whole day sightseeing, this is a good option. What we liked Location is superb with beautiful mountain views. Try to get an upper-floor room with a balcony if available. There are two main room types on the first floor, with a swing and without a swing. If you enjoy sitting on a swing, the swing room is worth considering. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The lawn is the main attraction of the property. It is a beautiful place to sit, have tea and enjoy the surroundings. You can get beautiful sunset and sunrise views from the property. Since the property is almost on the mountaintop, the weather can get very cold, which is actually part of the experience. The food is very good for the price. Room dining was good and breakfast was also good, although the breakfast options are somewhat limited. Overall, we were happy with the food quality. Things to be aware of Heater: There is no heater included in the room by default. You need to specifically request one, and it costs ₹600 per night extra. Since it gets quite cold here, keep this in mind when comparing prices. Drinking water - biggest concern: This was our main issue during the stay. They provide drinking water in glass bottles because plastic bottles are restricted in Ooty. However, the bottles we received did not seem to be washed properly and had a noticeable smell. Even after complaining and getting replacements, some bottles still had an unpleasant smell, including what seemed like a rat-like smell. Unfortunately, this also caused some stomach discomfort for us. I strongly recommend carrying your own sealed drinking water, preferably a 5-litre can, and avoiding the hotel-provided water if you notice any smell or unusual taste. Lawn timing: The lawn is closed after around 6:30 PM. The reason is understandable as bison and other wildlife can pass through the area. In fact, you may be lucky enough to see wildlife from the property, which is quite interesting, but you should follow the property's restrictions and avoid going into the lawn after closing time. Parking: Parking is quite limited and there is no proper large parking area. Approach road: This is something you should definitely know before booking. The final stretch to the property is around 2 km of very narrow uphill road with slopes and curves. In some sections, it is effectively wide enough for only one vehicle at a time. It can be difficult for novice or inexperienced hill drivers, especially if another vehicle is coming from the opposite direction. I would strongly recommend avoiding unnecessary trips after dark. Once you reach the property, it is better to stay there and enjoy the surroundings rather than repeatedly driving up and down that road at night. Activities: There aren't many activities at the property. There is table tennis and a few other basic games, but don't expect a resort with lots of activities. Overall Delightz Inn is best suited for 2 nights of relaxing, enjoying the views, sitting on the lawn, having tea and experiencing the cold Ooty weather rather than for people looking for lots of activities. The views, location, spacious rooms, lawn and food make it good value, especially at a reasonable price. Just be aware of the ₹600/night heater charge, limited parking, narrow approach road and especially the drinking water issue. Overall, a pleasant stay with beautiful views and wonderful mountain air. I would recommend staying for 2 nights, staying mostly at the property and enjoying the weather and surroundings rather than constantly going out.
