The Little Big House - Home in Downtown Ann Arbor

perfect location! enjoyed a beautiful neighborhood run in the mornings. We were there during the Art Fair which was only a few blocks away. Also within walking distance of UofM campus and Kerry Town. Enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the mornings, talking with friendly neighbors.

We had plenty of space for our family, but website listed 4 bedrooms, however there are 3 (maybe they counted the basement as the 4th?). And house has 1.5 baths--one full with shower/tub upstairs. Bathroom on main floor is a half bath--toilet and sink only. As I said, the space was perfect for us, but just want to clarify in case someone needs that 4th bedroom or second shower.

The property was in an excellent location, just a short walk to Downtown Ann Arbor and with an organic farm shop right next door. The house was very cute and had lots of character. My 15 year old daughter told me that this was her dream house! The surrounding neighborhood was perfect for a morning jog/walk. Coming from Singapore, we found great amusement with all the bunnies we saw during our walks. There was one little rabbit that appeared to live on the lawns just in front of the house. We all loved the Michigan university decor. The kitchen was well stocked with all sorts of appliances, pots, pans and cooking utensils. The washing machine and dryer were huge. The games room was great for teenagers. We loved the design of the blinds. So easy to pull up and down and with no annoying cords. I want these in my house! The TV was a great size, which was key for watching the World Cup. The neighborhood was quiet in the evenings. The verandah was a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a cup of tea. We loved the fact there were 3 bedrooms which gave our family of four ample space. The driveway parking was very handy as there were never any street parks available.

There could have been some additional lighting in the upstairs bathroom as it was a bit dark. The decking at the front of the house was looking a bit weathered and was quite dusty. When opening the kitchen windows there were a few cobwebs. The cleaner did an excellent job of cleaning inside the house, but didn’t pay much attention to the windows and decking. It would have been nice to have some bedside lamps in the bedrooms. Although the airconditioning was very powerful throughout most of the house, it was definitely cooler in the lower floors and not as cool upstairs. The upstairs master bedroom felt too warm during the hot summer nights which made sleeping a little uncomfortable. We were given lots of towels which was great, but most of them, along with the tea towels etc were all in the dryer when we arrived. At first, we couldn’t find them. When we arrived, the dishwasher hadn’t been unloaded either, so we were left to put away dishes and baking trays etc, some of which we weren’t sure where they belonged. We couldn’t get the TV in the basement to work, but that was fine as the one on the ground floor was more than adequate.

The location is great. About 15min easy walk to central campus of UofM. 3min walk to main street where you can have food and UofM merchandise shopping. Next door is a popular coffee shop. Also a popular ice cream shop just at the corner. Kitchen is very well-equipped and is spacious. You can tell the owner really spend a lot of effort putting this house together.
