About this house rental

FALL IN WALLA WALLA, AND THE WHOLE HOUSE IS YOURS

You have been trying to get nine people into one place for a year. Somebody always ends up on an air mattress, somebody else volunteers to cook and then spends the weekend alone in a galley kitchen, and the group you came to see splits into two houses across town. That is the trip this house was arranged to prevent.

The Lilac-Rosebud Suite is a whole-home rental in College Place, on the Walla Walla side of the valley — four king bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two complete kitchens, and a private hot tub on a covered deck. It sleeps nine. Four couples get four real beds. Two families get two floors. And the Thanksgiving or harvest-weekend dinner you have been picturing actually happens, because there are two ovens and two dining tables and nobody has to wait their turn.

Autumn is when this valley is exactly what people hope it will be. Crush runs from early September through October, the vineyards turn gold against the Blue Mountains, and the tasting rooms that were three deep in August have room at the bar again.

WHO THIS HOUSE IS FOR

Four couples on a wine weekend. A multigenerational family in for Whitman or Walla Walla University family weekend. Friends who do this every year and have outgrown hotel rooms. Parents in for graduation or move-in who want the grandparents down the hall instead of across town. Guests describe it the same way over and over: "The house was exactly as advertised and worked really well for our group of nine people."

THE LAYOUT — AND WHY IT WORKS FOR A GROUP

Upstairs is a single level with no stairs to climb once you are in: three king bedrooms, the main kitchen, and the living room with the fireplace. It has its own front entrance off the driveway.

Downstairs is the Rosebud level: the fourth king bedroom, a second full kitchen, a second living room, and a third full bathroom. It has its own private entrance from outside, and a spiral staircase connects it to the upstairs inside the house — so it works either as part of one big group or as a semi-private wing for the couple who goes to bed early, the family with a toddler, or the friends who arrive at midnight.

As one guest put it: "The layout is a little unique, but it actually works great for a big group — lots of space to spread out without feeling disconnected."

Beyond the four kings there is a queen sofa bed, a pack-n-play and a high chair, so a baby in the group does not mean a car full of gear.

TWO FULL KITCHENS AND TWO OVENS

This is the thing nothing else in this market offers, and in the fall it matters more than any other feature in the house.

The main kitchen upstairs is large and genuinely stocked — full-size refrigerator, two ovens, stove, dishwasher, microwave, blender, toaster, kettle, baking sheets, cooking basics, and enough dishes, mugs and wine glasses that you are not washing between courses. "Great kitchen, fully equipped for cooking or serving up to 10 people."

The second kitchen downstairs is a complete kitchen of its own, not a bar fridge and a hot plate — so breakfast for the early risers does not wake the house, and the turkey and the sides can be going at the same time in different rooms.

Then there are the two dining tables plus bar seating. Nine people eat together sitting down: "The big kitchen and two dining tables made it super easy for everyone to hang out, cook, and eat together."

The coffee bar comes with a waffle station — mix, toppings and all — which turns out to be the single most written-about thing in the house. "We especially enjoyed the waffle bar." "Was well-stocked and the waffle bar was a hit."

FALL, OUTSIDE AND IN

The indoor fireplace is in service October 1 through April 30. "The living room was comfortable and the fireplace was my favorite." If you are coming in September and want it going, message us and we will see what we can do.

The private hot tub sits on a covered deck. That covering is the difference between a hot tub you look at in November and a hot tub you actually use — rain, wind or an early frost, the soak still happens. Towels are provided. "The hot tub was hot, clean & easy to use."

The covered patio has outdoor seating and a dining set, a BBQ with utensils, and life-size lawn games on the grass. Inside there is a board game cabinet and a game table for the evening after the wineries close, and the living room seats the whole group at once — "our group especially loved gathering in the peaceful living room area with super comfortable chairs & sofa" — with a second living room downstairs when people want to split up.

WHERE YOU ARE

College Place is a quiet residential town on the Walla Walla side of the valley: close enough that everything is a short drive, far enough out that the evenings are calm.

• Downtown Walla Walla — Main Street tasting rooms, restaurants, and a farmers market that runs through October — 8 minutes
• Walla Walla University — 5 minutes, less than a mile
• Whitman College — about 10 minutes
• Seven Hills Winery 11 minutes, Bledsoe Family Winery 12, Force Majeure Vineyards 14, L'Ecole No 41 18, Walla Walla Vintners 20
• Wine Valley Golf Club — 14 minutes
• Whitman Mission National Historic Site — 12 minutes
• Walla Walla Regional Airport (ALW) — 15 minutes
• Lions Park is directly across the street, and it is genuinely good now: a rebuild finished in 2025 added an inclusive playground, soccer and baseball fields, a fishing dock, a picnic shelter, restrooms and a walking and fitness path
• Groceries are a few minutes away in either direction

GETTING AROUND

You will want cars. The wineries are spread across six districts and the far ones are a 20-minute drive. There is room for three vehicles in the front driveway, plus the back cul-de-sac on Brentwood Place and the street. If you drive electric, there is a 220V EV charger in the driveway — bring your own cable.

Rideshare runs here but is not always reliable late at night, so plan tasting days with a designated driver or a wine tour van.

ARRIVAL, AND THE PART WHERE YOU RELAX

Keyless self check-in, with your code sent before you travel — no key to collect, no meeting anyone at a set hour. Check-in is 4:00 PM and checkout is 10:00 AM.

We are local owners and managers, not a call center in another state, and the reviews are mostly about that: "Mindi is an exceptional host that went above and beyond, always checking in with us and ensuring we were well taken care of and felt right at home." Message us any time during your stay. The house holds 4.96 stars over 52 stays.

THE FALL DATES THAT GO FIRST

• Whitman Family Weekend — October 22–24
• WWU Family Weekend and Halloween — October 29–31
• Fall Release Weekend, the biggest wine weekend of the year — November 5–7
• Thanksgiving — late November
• Holiday Barrel Weekend — early December

Crush season runs all of September and October, so the shoulder dates around those weekends are the quiet ones worth grabbing.

A FEW HONEST NOTES

The house faces a main road through College Place, which makes it easy to find. A guest said it better than we could: "It is on a busy arterial road, which I didn't realize and honestly, you couldn't hear the traffic from inside." The bedrooms and the back deck are quiet.

Because a third one-bedroom apartment in the building shares the central heating system, we manage the thermostat rather than leaving it on the wall. Message us any time, day or night, and we adjust it right away — there is also a space heater in the downstairs bedroom and portable fans in the house.

That third apartment is rented independently and locked off from your space entirely. If it is occupied, the only place you might cross paths is the lower back patio, where those guests walk to their own parking. Each downstairs suite has its own pair of Adirondack chairs.

BOOK IT
