About this house rental

Full of original character, this atmospheric cottage dates to the 1600s with stone floors and low ceilings that tell their age, set among 9 acres of nature. The house sleeps six across two king rooms and a twin, with three bathrooms, a wood-burning stove, kitchen diner and private garden with deck & hot tub. Hot tub available as optional extra. Please note the uneven floors and steep stairs make this cottage unsuitable for guests with mobility difficulties. Minutes from Stirling Castle.

The Powis House Lodge is a refurbished older property that is quirky yet well proportioned. The beds are comfortable and the hot tub is excellent. The rental is good overall however some attention to small details could improve the stay, such as kindling or fire starters for the fireplace or an information book containing directions (location of switch for towel heater etc). The location is convenient for visiting sites and the combination of the hot tub and the fireplace make for a relaxing end to the day.

The modern kitchen, beautiful grounds and historic stairways and rooms were so clean and comfortable for us. I was impressed because it’s not easy to keep such an old property in such a clean condition! I even had a bath one night. We loved exploring the woods and small stream around the house as well as getting out to other spots around Scotland. The house was out of the way but easily accessible even for those used to driving on the other side of the road! Loved our time here. Only downside was the weak internet and cell reception. Also stairways were difficult for elderly member of our group but that was the case everywhere we went and probably to be expected.

This is the most interesting location we have stayed due to the age of the home and amount of property. It was like stepping back in time with modern amenities. We used this as our home base to visit Stirling, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. It worked out well. If looking to get away from the business and noise of the city, it would be a good spot to relax and enjoy the property.
