Location was great, meaning that it was an escape from the world, beautiful surroundings, spectacular view, nice drive to the house. Feeling a bit alone in the world in the very most positive way. The apartment was very clean and cosy, and everything that we needed was there. Good bed, well equipped kitchen and easy and fast communication with the hosts.
We realise that we didn't do our homework very well in advance, and thought that the location (Bryson City) was close to the city and therefore close/closer to the Smokey Mountains. It is a 25' minute drive to the centre of Bryson City, and from there another 30' to one of the first hikes in the Smokey Mountains (Deep Creek Trail). So if you want to do daily hikes, be aware of the fact that you will drive a lot before reaching the Smokey Mountains. On the other side, it is a great place to relax in the evening after a busy day. So, it is what you like :-).
