Quite, and if you just wanted to get away, find a beach and soak up the sun, this is place, the shops, down the road, lots of eating places, a good massage dedicated to getting ride of the those knots. it not fancy, but is just nice, the staff are nice. the night life is just down the road
I would hire a scooter, you could use the taxi service, but I liked getting up early to pray at the red temple at the top of the hill, and it just works, communication was always a struggle, english on the island is not native and this much my fault as the hotel. Learn some basic Thai if you staying the full month. But I like that I only had to communicate if needed.

Quiet location within walking distance of beach, shops, central Lamai.
The fan is too powerful for the bungalow size. The Airton is a bit noisy. There is no kettle.
