Beautiful clean place and lovely location.
No cleaning materials in property, No mope, no dish washing liquid, no tea towels for kitchen.

Lovely big lodge
Didn’t like that you couldn’t take the car up to the lodge and didn’t like the noise coming from the quarry early in the morning

Fantastic location, super clean comfy pod.

The cabin was beautiful! We had a view of the surf area, and had breakfast watching a competition. The beds were comfortable and there was everything you needed in one little place. It was super clean too.
The parking area is large but its quite far away although its nice not to hear cars etc when you are there so its not a major fault! And there was a luggage cart if you could catch it!

Accommodation is perfect for 6, it’s very spacious and fully equipped kitchen. Had a great time celebrating a birthday. Provisional of game boards and playing cards were a lovely touch.
It’s quite a walk from and back to the car park. Not suitable to show off and bring back elderly parents we were visiting in nearby village. No lighting at night coming back from the village. Tarmac road finishes way before the lodges.

Chalet was big, amazing views. Lovely restaurant/bar. Amazing pizza.
Cannot take car to chalet. They offer a buggy service at check in and out. But if staying longer than a few days and need to restock food, drink etc, you then need to carry it, which is a 10-15min walk if staying in Hilltop chalets, not good if of an older age.

Great little Pod. Perfect for a short stay. Has all you need including coffee/tea facilities, desk side chargers, mood lighting and a great little touch screen pad to adjust all the pods settings. Bed was comfy and the pod surprisingly quiet. Lovely to wake up to the sound of waves! Restaurant was great. Good coffee and food.
Could do with some lighting up to the pods. Clearer instructions on which way to go when you park up. It’s quite hard in the dark! Room could have been a little cleaner. Wrappers on floor and dirty sides but didn’t take away from the stay. If you don’t have a car it’s quite far out of Edinburgh (20/30min drive) so not sure if there is a bus service.

Lovely sub cabin for myself. Perfect for the overnight stay or a romantic getaway! I’m sure the larger cabins are brilliant for families too! Underfloor heating, Bluetooth sound system inside, heated towel rail, led lights, comfy bed! Brilliant coffee! And an incredible surf session! Was my first time there ever, the staff were lovely, so supportive and helpful as I was a little out of my depth but nonetheless they were supportive, educational and patient all the way through! Can’t thank them enough!
Absolutely nothing

Clean and modern. Good value for price
As a disabled person it’s quite a hike to the car park and the transport buggy wasn’t on when we left.

Size of lodge
On arrival the reception was very negative, no thinking outside the box. We explained we were going to the rugby match and could be back late, the accommodation was empty as we went to find the location. The customer experience could be a whole lot better. Much to do in this space.

View across the lake towards the Firth, very clean and comfortable. Discount on the surf lessons, next door to Ratho climbing centre and only 30mins into centre of Edinburgh
You can’t drive directly to the lodges, the staff will ship your luggage in a golf buggy, which works fine. However the path is completely unlit so you’ll be walking back up the hill (10mins) at the end of the day is in pitch blackness. The landscaping around the lodges seems unfinished

An unusual place for a night before flying from Edinburgh. I loved watching the surfers. The pod was luxurious and very high tech
Signage to the pods could be improved

Fantastic. Pods were amazing. Super comfy, cosy and had everything we needed.
No buses to location. Taxis difficult as busy day in Edinburgh but we coped.
One small complaint only - about the soap and shampoo dispensers in the pods. They have been put in the wrong place, very difficult to use.

Very different, modern, clean and surprisingly spacious. Great for our overnight stay before heading to the airport. We were extremely lucky to visit on a lovely hot day so it was a please to sit outside an watch the surfing most of the afternoon.
I wasn't keen on the toilet/wet room but otherwise it was perfect for our needs.

The room was cute, it was very clean, comfortable bed and easy to relax in. Not like a hotel with guest all over each other. it was peaceful.
The car park is a fair walk from the Pods, guest parking should be a little closer. trying to find reception could have been easier with some better silage from the car park, It was also hard getting luggage to the room in the wind and rain from the car park that said no long term parking only to find out at reception that we could indeed park there. Though picture do not show it, it was amusing to have a toilet in the shower. I know space is premium in a space like this but thought initial design tweaks would have made this 100% better.

Hilltop lodges were very comfortable, it had everything we needed for a short break.
Due to location of the lodge, a golf buggy was needed to transport our luggage from the carpark to the property, which we organised through reception. Improvement in landscaping and vehicular access to the hilltop lodges would be a priority, The track up from the carpark to hilltop lodges needs tarmacking to make it more family friendly. On our first morning, the cafe wasn't serving breakfast, which was a bit disappointing, due to having no chef. But we were able to get breakfast roll at the Climbing centre nearby.

Nice space. Toiletries are nice
Very sandy inside. Hoovering/mopping needs to improve. The wet cubbyhole is too small to shower. Really not suitable. Difficult to get to pod.

The parking and apparent security of the place plus the walk everyday from the car park to the lodge
8.0 / 10.0
Clean, modern, comfortable with all required amenities.
Be aware that the lodges are at the top of a hill with a steep path with stairs or road to get down to the restaurant and water.

This is my second stay at this property . I stayed here when it first opened and enjoyed my stay therefore booked again . During my initial stay ,the accommodation was in is infancy and the snags at that time I thought would have been improved upon by now . However not a lot has changed .
We stayed in the hilltop lodges which are fantastic 3 bedroomed properties - the one I stayed in this time did not have such a great view of the surf pool . I booked this stay for my sons birthday and stayed on my own during my first visit . The lodges are perfect internally , spotlessly clean , well equipped . Master bedroom has an ensuite and separate TV with cable channels . Wi Fi good . Both other rooms have 2 single beds . There is also an outside shower . Staff are lovely and there is a surf shop . Wave pool and activities are all great . Restaurant is a bit of a walk . Great views of the Forth Bridges in the distance and good local walking paths connecting to the climbing centre . Also close to a local art garden if you are looking for other things to do if staying longer .
If you are travelling from abroad this place is super close to the airport and bus routes to Edinburgh / Glasgow . I also noted a petition for a local bus as its a bit of a walk to the bus stop .
Outside verandah has no outdoor furniture so you cannot sit out even if very warm and yes its always windy here so this may be why there is none .
The roads are terrible and you have to park in the car park which is far away and down/uphill . The roads have large gravel which is slippery - not great for anyone let alone elderly . If you leave anything in your car then its several trips . You cannot park your car at your lodge . There are footpaths which are better but none direct to the car park . There is a golf cart which can transport you but only on arrival and departure with your luggage so make sure you don't forget anything This does not make any sense . The pods are closer to the car park therefore I would recommend them instead .
We booked at " the canteen" for a birthday meal for 8pm online . On arrival we were told no booking and that two of the 3 restaurants were closed . Nevertheless food is great and good value for money .Also the restaurant is advertised at being open till 11pm but this is not the case . It is open to the general public so people staying at the resort are disadvantaged as they may arrive late or eat when its quieter and find it closed . As this was summer I would have expected it to be open later . It was busier at night when I stayed in the winter . Its almost like the restaurant operates autonomously from the accommodation which may well be the case .
With all the above being said . I would definitely rate this accommodation and will stay again for sure . I hope the accomodation takes note and makes improvements which could make a great place even better .

Had lovely views over the resort and towards the bridges, very clean, rooms were bigger than expected. Kitchen had everything you needed and it was nice having the dining table. The veranda was a nice addition also. Beds were comfortable and the showers were great too! Was very handy having the two bathrooms. Although there were 6 of us never felt crowded etc. Some of our party used the restaurant and enjoyed it.
Only comments I'd have is they request the dishwasher to be put on before you leave but there were no tabs for this that we could see so had to make a trip to buy some. Only other comment is to be aware of the walk, the distance isn't bad (after a long day was a little tedious but we survived haha) but the path is quite uneven with potholes/large stones as a base, which was a bit difficult in the dark.

The Hillside Cabins are gorgeous.. the facilites are perfect and very comfortable! Any staff we met were lovely! Check in was very simple and the location is ideal
I had booked a travel cot.. however it wasnt there on check in and there was no answer anytime I rang! We worked around it so it was no hassle.. those with a smaller baby would need it tho! Also be prepared for a hike up from the parking 😉

We stayed in this place in order to catch our early flight in the morning. It is located just 10 minutes from the airport. We chose to stay in a little pod - it looked brand new, with all facilities available. Lights and heating are controlled through the iPad located on the wall. Pod was very nice and cosy.
The location of the pod and other apartments/houses was rather far from the reception. First, you need to come all the way to the reception from parking which is about 5 mins walk and then another 5-7 mins to the pods. Shower and toilet are 2-in-1 in a small room. It was perfect for a short stay, but can imagine might be more difficult if you are staying longer.

Spotless accommodation, great setting and location, very comfy stay. Value for money in Edinburgh!

The location was close to the airport which was exactly what we were looking for.
Since our flight arrived after check in was closed, we had to hike with our bags from the car park to the uniit which was about a 15 minute walk, this was because the staff were not able to operate the buggy. No such issues when we checked out.
In all fairness we were made aware of this via other reviews so it was not a shock. .

Absolutely fabulous. We did go to cafe and had very nice meal and drinks. Lodge was full of mod cons and vey comfortable.
Didn't bring washing up liquid as hadn't realised it wasn't supplied, although there is a dishwasher. Could have done with instructions for microwave. Had presumed there would be full sized oven. Very very minor thing which didn't spoil the experience, although did mean we couldn't cook what we had brought so ate at cafe instead.

Great views of the fields and planes landing. Full kitchen. New property so the chalets are well kept so far.
The 3br chalets are a climb from the car park. The buggy service they provide is only for luggage and not for people. Phone numbers didn’t work so everytime we needed something, had to walk down the hill to the reception. Dish washing soap and laundry detergent not provided, so carry your own if you plan to use them

The resort is very lovely and spotlessly clean, as was my pod. Everything you could wish for in the pod, very comfortable and again spotless. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food in canteen excellent.

What a fun, different place to overnight before flying back to the states! The restaurant & bar served delicious items & we got to watch surfers “do their thing.” Our pod was squeaky clean, with a wonderful king size bed.
Though being only 10 minutes from the airport, both of our Uber drivers had difficulty locating it. It’s a newer facility they are not as familiar with. An airport shuttle service would make staying here a bit easier….but we’re so glad we did:)
