We stayed at Clonmeen House with a large family group, and it was a truly memorable setting for our trip. The house is huge, with plenty of room for everyone, and the grand dining room was perfect for a private chef dinner and a lively murder mystery night. The grounds are beautiful, and the character of this 19th-century home really set the vibe for the week. Claire and Howard, the caretakers, were also super helpful and responsive, which made a big difference.That said, guests should know this is an older property and comes with quirks. Some bathrooms weren’t working properly, and one leak reached the main floor. The freezer wasn’t available during our stay, and the cleaners had done just the minimum. The third floor was completely under renovation, which wasn’t mentioned ahead of time, and the bedroom layouts weren’t exactly as expected — some are set up more like doubles. Parts of the home also felt musty and in need of a refresh.Overall, Clonmeen House delivered on space, atmosphere, and charm, and it gave us the backdrop for a wonderful family gathering. Just be prepared for the historic quirks and some ongoing updates.

Clonmeen House is a grand manor that needs some TLC. My family enjoyed staying there and the location was ideal for sightseeing Cork and Kerry.
