The Nest Weligama

We zijn ruim 3 weken verbleven in deze super fijne studio. Vanaf het eerste moment voelden we ons thuis en werden we hartelijk ontvangen door Deshan en zijn familie. Alles is aanwezig en het is erg prettig om zelf een keukentje te hebben, waardoor je bijvoorbeeld zelf ontbijt kunt maken. De douche is goed (en warm), de bedden liggen lekker, de wifi werkt over het algemeen goed (ook om te werken) en het grote terras is echt een bonus! De studio ligt iets buiten het centrum - ongeveer 15 minuten lopen naar het strand. Eigenlijk vonden we dit heel fijn. Weligama centrum kan echt heel druk zijn en elke keer als we terugliepen, kwam de rust ons tegemoet. Een aanrader om hier te verblijven, zeker als je een paar weken een thuisbasis wilt.

I stayed at this apartment for an entire month and couldn’t have chosen a better place in Weligama. From the moment I arrived, I loved the aesthetic and cleanliness of the space. You can tell it’s newly built - everything feels fresh, well maintained, and thoughtfully designed. The apartment feels very spacious thanks to the high ceilings and the two balconies (one small and one large). The large balcony quickly became my favorite spot for morning coffee. The apartment had everything I needed for a long stay: a proper closet, a desk for working, a washing machine, a small but well-equipped kitchen, a fridge, and plenty of space overall. It felt private, comfortable, and very easy to settle into. What really made this place special, though, were the owners. They are a wonderful family who truly made me feel at home. They invited me for dinners, gave me a ride to the train station when I needed it, helped me organize a motorbike, and always made sure I felt safe and welcome. I could go downstairs and spend time with them whenever I felt like company, which meant a lot during a longer stay. The location is also great. The area feels safe and calm, yet you’re only about a 5-minute scooter ride from Weligama town. If you drive a few minutes inland, you’ll even find beautiful little rice fields, which adds to the peaceful feeling of the area. Weligama itself is a perfect base if you’re into surfing, especially for beginners, and it’s ideally located for day trips - close to Ahangama to the west and Mirissa to the east. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone staying in Weligama, especially for a longer stay. I truly felt at home here and would happily come back.
