Beach Front Retreat in Fish Hoek

The locks on both the security metal gate and the wooden front door were very difficult to engage with the keys.

We especially loved the beautiful location directly by the sea. The wonderful view, the sound of the waves, and the peaceful atmosphere were truly special. The accommodation was also very clean, cozy, and furnished with great attention to detail. We felt completely comfortable throughout our stay.

Insgesamt haben wir unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Nur gelegentlich war der vorbeifahrende Zug zu hören, was uns jedoch nicht besonders gestört hat.

We stayed here at the beginning of February and the distance from the beach can’t be beat. It’s just across the road. The flat has big windows with gorgeous views of the Fish Hoek beach and is bright and clean. The train runs right past the beach so if you have a family member who likes trains it’s an added bonus. There’s a delicious bakery next door that’s popular with locals and has excellent breads. There is also safe parking in a garage behind a security gate next to the building. You’ll need to park on the street initially until you can get the keys to the flat which include the remote for the security gate and garage door. The flat was spotless when we arrived and the owner was easily available to contact and very helpful when we were unsure of things.

A slight downside to the property is the fact that you have to carry all your suitcases etc up a flight of steps to get to the flat. It wasn’t a big issue for us but might be for people with big heavy luggage. Also, the train starts running relatively early in the morning (6am ish) and occasionally sounds its horn just before the pedestrian crossing. We actually quite liked experiencing the train going by and the accompanying sounds, but if you’re sensitive to sound it might be hard to sleep in. In terms of the area, the road that the flat is on is safe, but I would avoid going along the road towards the taxi rank if possible because that area can be a bit dodgy. I ran along the beach and back through the town in the early morning alone as a woman and only really felt the need to be careful in the central town area near the train station. The beach itself is safe and there are lots of friendly walkers and swimmers.
