The Local Guest House

We were three girls travelling to Mizoram for leisure; it was our first visit to the state. The Homestay owners were extremely kind and helpful throughout. Right from guiding us to the property, to allowing us extra time to vacate (as my friends had office work) and then giving us a safe space to keep our luggage after checking out. We remember their kindness with a grateful and fond heart & wish The Local Homestay a successful journey ahead!

Perhaps it would be nice to have a water filter and some cutlery in the room as the common kitchen remains closed post 8-9 pm & the house help isn't comfortable with Hindi/English. As guests, we also feel bad to keep bothering the owners again & again. Also, a ceiling fan is much needed in the room! And also, you should incorporate at least one blue light in the room.

I recently stayed at this property and wanted to share a balanced review based on my experience. To begin with, the manager Magdalene truly stood out and deserves special appreciation. Communication was consistently prompt and proactive, which made the entire stay much smoother. Whenever an issue arose, it was addressed quickly and efficiently. What impressed me the most was the willingness to go the extra mile—there was a genuine effort to ensure we had the best possible experience, and that level of care did not go unnoticed. The property itself is another strong highlight. It is located in a great area, offering beautiful views that really elevate the overall stay. The rooms are spacious, well-designed, and comfortable, making it ideal for a relaxing getaway.

There were some concerns regarding the caretaker that need attention. The behavior came across as unwelcoming, which set a negative tone at times. There was an instance where dinner was not provided for one night without any explanation, which was inconvenient. Additionally, entering the space without ringing the bell is a serious privacy concern and should be addressed immediately. The cleanliness of the kitchen area also needs improvement, as the sink was left dirty after washing utensils.
