About this house rental
Charming cottage within walking distance of downtown Blowing Rock. The house was built in the 1930s and has been updated retaining the original style. The surrounding woods provide privacy and seclusion but in fact you are just steps from all Blowing Rock has to offer. The home has 3 bedrooms & 2 baths upstairs & one bedroom & one bath below, perfect for a family with older children. The house is only available for 4-week rentals due to zoning but is a perfect retreat for travelers with time.
The space
Shoebox Cottage is a beloved family retreat. There are two bedrooms upstairs with a family room has a pullout queen sofa bed. The master bedroom has a queen bed with an en suite bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom has full-size bunk beds with a trundle bed and a bathroom with a tub/shower that is connected to the family room.
The front of the house has a covered porch with a table and chairs and a swinging bench that is a perfect spot for alfresco dining or a morning cup of coffee. The steps to the front porch are also gated and latched on each side for safety if you have young children.
When you enter the house, you'll find a living room/dining room area with a gas fireplace. As you move through the house you enter a full-size eat-in kitchen as well as a concealed stacked washer and dryer. There is an egress from the back of the house that leads to an elevated back patio.
There are fenced-in enclosed yards on the left and right side of the house. On the left side of the house, there is a propane fire pit and on the right side of the house, a wood-burning fire pit. There are numerous Adirondack chairs for seating outside.
The above ground basement has been finished into a work and lounge area with desks and seating. My kids enjoy watching movies and playing games downstairs. There is also a queen sized pull out sofa bed and a full bathroom to accommodate additional guests. A television, electric fireplace, coffee maker and small refrigerator can also be found downstairs.
There is a covered carport that can fit two cars. The famed Blowing Rock Main Street starts at the end of Hidden Water Street where many charming restaurants, shops and activities can be found year-round.
