Chalet familiale spacieux - près de Villars

This was a cosy, rustic style cottage with 2 main large bedrooms on the main floor, with stairs leading up to 2 more smaller loft bedrooms with a very low ceiling. Up these stairs, the second floor was suited well for small children, including a variety of toys and games. In the master bedroom, there was a plethora of books to choose from, displayed on a large bookshelf. The kitchen included lots of cooking equipment such as pots, pans, silverware, kitchenware, tongs etc. There was a dishwasher and oven which both had QR codes displayed with instructions on how to use the appliances. An extremely convenient feature was the fact that there were two bathrooms, making the morning routine a lot more comfortable, with one of the bathrooms having a bath with shower gel and shampoo included. The washing machine and dryer were located in a separate, easily accessible laundry room, with a clothes drying rack provided for outdoor drying. There was also parking right in front of the chalet which made travelling by car simple. The owners live in the flat below, and were well accommodating and extremely kind, explaining how to use all of the features of the cottage. Overall, it was a fantastic, vintage 2 floor apartment with many facilities to suit a family of 5.

Les propriétaires habitant en dessous sont très sympathiques, l’emplacement est idéal (à côté de Villars et très facilement atteignable en transport public) et on se sent bienvenus avec un enfant (beaucoup de jouets sur place, des équipements bébé et un jardin à disposition).

Tout est très vieillot (le terme “vintage” de la vidéo descriptive est tout à fait fallacieux). On a vraiment le sentiment de séjourner dans un chalet qui n’a connu aucune rénovation depuis plus de 50 ans… les moquettes présentent dans la plupart des salles est usée et décolorée, certains équipements abîmés ne sont pas remplacés (évier de la cuisine, toaster, poêle, matelas enfant, chaises longues couverte de moisissures, bac à sable cassé, etc.). Beaucoup de poussière présente malgré un ménage qui a clairement été fait (mais impossible de se débarrasser de toutes la poussière présente dans les moquettes, rideaux et vielles armoires). C’est très dommage car le logement a un gros potentiel et quelques petits investissements feraient toute la différence pour que l’on se sente bien.

The location for our stay was excellent. We were able to visit friends that lived near to the property and travel time to Geneva was reasonable. The mountain views are spectacular and I would return to this chalet.

The layout of the kitchen and kitchen table is a bit inefficient but it was well stocked with all the essentials. Watching television was not a priority but some better instructions would have been helpful. We had to perform a couple of internet searches to find the section of channels available to us.
