What we liked most about our stay was the peace, privacy and sense of being completely away from everything. The lodge is in an unusual location and, once you find it, it really does feel like a little hideaway from roads and people. With the bushes starting to grow around the pod, the feeling of privacy is only going to improve. It’s a lovely, quiet spot where you can genuinely feel like you’re on your own.
The setup is very much a “go as you please” arrangement, with very little interaction with the owners. Communication was by text when we needed help finding the lodge and when we noticed that some of the curtain links had come away. The space has also been cleverly designed to make the most of what is quite a small area. When people describe it as “cosy”, they really do mean cosy! As we visited during a period of rain, we probably spent more time inside the lodge than many guests might, so we noticed a few things that perhaps wouldn’t be as apparent during better weather.
One thing that could make the experience even better would be clearer signage, particularly as the owners’ home has a similar name to the lodge. It was quite difficult to know that we had arrived at the right place when we first got there.
The settee/bed can also be a little awkward. It moves quite easily and isn’t always the most comfortable to sit on, presumably because it doubles as the bed. When pulling it down, the amount of noise and clunking it makes does make you wonder whether you’ve accidentally broken something!
The lodge appeared clean overall, although it did seem that a final check before arrival could have been helpful. We noticed some spider webs and the windows could have done with a clean. This was particularly noticeable because the view from the settee out towards the decking and hot tub is one of the nicest features of the lodge, and clean windows would really make the most of it.
We ended up parked up at the side of a country road, lost and very unsure of where to go. Phoned the owners, no answer. Tried to speak to a representative and was transferred to a company called ‘cottages..something’. Which was no help as they were too concerned about specific booking details and didn’t seem to acknowledge we were lost, parked up in a country lane. Eventually, worked out from Google map where to go. But that was wrong… embarrassingly, we had pulled up at the owners house. There was a sign that says ‘you are here’ and then an arrow pointing outside of the box and then pointing behind the current location, with a box. Having never been here before, we literally wouldn’t know. After a few minutes at the electric gate with a camera visible. We then received a text ‘your at the wrong electric gates that’s my drive , there is a white sign on gate showing where to go from there further down lane turn left and left again and electric gates are open’. A sign, even a wooden one pointing to the middle section between a bungalow and where to park would be very much needed.

We liked the pod itself, it was warm and cozy. We loved the serenity of the location as well.
The hot tub was very dirty when we got there. We were not impressed by that at all. I don’t know if anyone tried looking at the hot tub right before we came in. We were very disappointed as we were looking forward to it and we didn’t mind paying the extra money just to get a place with hot tub only to get there and it wasn’t usable.
There was no WiFi connectivity in the pod. If you go outside of the pod, you would get connected to the WiFi. However the moment you go back inside, there was no WiFi on our phones at all which wasn’t ideal.
The following morning, we were getting ready to leave and we wanted to put ms Rachel on for our little boy but the Netflix account had expired and was asking to be renewed. That was not a nice experience as my son was very upset.
