Upper Welly Retreat

Bright and spacious area. Both bedrooms very well appointed, very convenient storage and lighting. Kitchen is well supplied. Washing machine would be useful for longer stays. Very good shower and well supplied with towels. Nice having skylights though a bit scary when we were there during the storm! Pleasant deck which we didn't use as weather not obliging. Useful being very short walk to Avon Theatre, many restaurants (The Common and a Thai restaurant on either side of front door) and cafes (fantastic breakfasts second year running at the Ashbourne Cafe) and small but excellent grocery store (Little Green Grocery).

Really only the access issue. We had been told that bags could be left on our arrival (by Festival bus from Toronto around 12 noon) but there was no message prior to arrival so we had no code. I had sent a message the previous day repeating our arrival time, my phone no and request to leave our luggage. Having received no reply we went to the Thai restaurant next door which was open and they contacted the owner. Luckily it was fine weather and we went to a nearby coffee shop until the code was sent and all was well. We did appreciate the ability to leave our luggage before official check in time but it could have been smoother.

The location is just off the main square with ample food and shopping options on foot. The Avon theatre is very close. The space is as pictured and is decorated with style and taste. The deck has lots of afternoon sun, and could use a few more options for maximizing the use of that space. The cleaner kindly let us put our bags in the stairwell prior to checking in at 3 pm.

It's was perhaps not clear that the 3rd person bed is not the sofa bed in the living area, but the single chaise beside it. We chose to have 2 people in the double instead of using it. We could not find a nearby spot for stocking up on coffee, bread and breakfast essentials (although there are lots of coffee shops), so you might want to hit the grocery store out of the downtown prior to checking in.

It was a larger centrally located space.

It was great.

Great location, very spacious

Some noice but not too last
