Don’t book this property unless you plan on spending more than you expect.
We booked for 1 night paying £216, £316 with the deposit. We were contacted by a random number not related to any of the host contact information provided by booking.com asking for a deposit. We have no issues paying the damage deposit as we understand it’s part of the policy & were expecting for this to be refunded. For safety reasons I messaged the number provided by booking.com saying we have no issue paying the deposit & to let us know where to pay it to. Before we even managed to pay the deposit, the host, Ricky, demanded we cancel the reservation from booking.com and we pay him cash on the day as he was losing too much money due to the fees. When we questioned this (we wanted a receipt for the deposit and stay, and to ensure when we turned up we were actually able to get in, incase anything was to happen on our side) Ricky became very rude & hostile and said to “forget it if you don’t think I’m legit”. Not being funny, scammers are everywhere nowadays & have never stayed with these people before so why would we trust them. We all agreed that we didn’t trust these people (rightly so) & continued with the reservation through booking.com & paid the deposit. Bearing in mind we all work full time & said we pay the deposit that evening, he sent messaged demanding the deposit and saying it had to be done asap and even tried calling me.
On the day, Ricky refused to give us the entry code until we had actually arrived on site. One of the group had travelled from 4 hours away, so you could imagine our stress that we’d turn up & the property wouldn’t be available, especially after the host had already tried to get us to cancel. We all firmly believe to this day if we’d have cancelled and paid cash on the day this would’ve been the case.
The caravan was nothing special. Dirty glasses in the cupboards & rubbish under the beds.
