WARNING - Poorly equipped, no communication from host

A warning about this apartment listing! The most basic requirement for a holiday rental apartment is sufficient lighting. And a kettle that works. And towels, hand towels and kitchen towels. Yet this Joli Apartment host did not supply this after we paid 665 CHF for a three-night stay! Here's a list of issues we found with this apartment. 1. We arrived around the 3pm check-in time, and already the apartment was dark. The lounge and kitchenette room has only got 2 lights, and only ONE light worked. We complained to the host, who told us it DOES works because she had someone in that same day to fix it - thus evidence that there were aware of the lighting problem. We sent pictures to show it did not work, but our messages were ignored! We took videos of how we had to use our phone torches to read and even look at the dials on the oven - that is how dark it is in this apartment! 2. We booked the apartment as it's listed as having parking, but there is no mention that the parking is across the street and you have to pay CHF 1.60 per hour! The host did not mention this up front or before confirming and receiving payment for the booking, making it false advertising. 3. Another reason we booked this apartment was that it has a washing machine. We specifically asked this question before making our booking to ensure we could use the washing machine. We were told it was a communal machine on the ground floor and that we could use it. After arrival, we were told it was only available on certain days. There was no mention of this in the booking, or in the email communication we had with the host prior to the booking.

We had to find a laundromat and spent our first night sitting in a cold, public laundromat to do our washing which was expensive for a couple's wash at 20CHF. The apartment failed to mention the limited availability of the washing machine, or we wouldn't have booked it. That is the reason for supplying a washing machine - so that the guest can use it at their own convenience, not when it is only available on certain days. MORE ISSUES: Kettle did not work | Only 2 thin, child-sized towels for a 3-night stay | Only 1 kitchen tea towel for a 3-night stay | Only 1 cereal bowl for 2 people | No oven glove to hold hot items - safety hazard | No bread knife or any other sharp knives | Showerhead in the bath does not work, it flops down & sprays the taps & feet | No loo roll holder, the toilet has one small facecloth for wiping hands | Hob has 4 plates, but only 3 plates work | No sea or mountains views | We sent pictures and videos of how we had to use our phone torch to turn on the oven and read by phone torch but the messages were ignored! The host received several messages about all this, yet they took no action and gave no apology for these issues, especially the lighting, kettle, or the incorrect washing machine information. She ignored our WhatsApp messages, took our money and didn't even feel remorse or apologetic! Our messages were not even read and thus ignored! As mentioned, this is a warning about the false advertising on this Joli Apartment!

Not as advertised

The location was a very short walk (less than 5 minutes) to Lake Geneva and close to public transportation. There was also a grocery store located nearby.

It appears that the pictures associated with this property are from the other apartment that the hosts manage in the building. In the booking details, it said that there were 4 beds, however when we asked the property manager where the 4th bed (twin bed) was, she told me that as we had booked for 6 people, the 3 beds (2 in bedrooms and sofa bed) were enough and she wouldn't provide the 4th bed. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher when we arrived. Many things in the apartment were broken, including a glass railing on the terrace and one of the doors leading out to the terrace. The listing also said there would be an in-room air conditioner and fan. There was 1 small fan and no air conditioner. As such, we had to leave the windows open at night and the surrounding streets were very loud with revving engines cruising up and down the street.
