Loved the tranquility and unique surroundings

It needed some updating in areas

Charming location, a green and picturesque estate not far from Limerick, yet with a countyyside feeling. It even came with a (de-sanctified) church. The estate is old, and in some places worse for wear, but the rooms were magnificient. The main house looks modest from the outside, but feels like a giant mansion once inside. There are friendly dogs, and the landlord´s friendliness is just extraordinary.

The bread available for toast was a bit stale, otherwise no complaints at all.

The Shannon River House is a special place hosted by special people who value your experience and comfort. The setting, history, elegance, and connection to old Limerick is unparalleled in our view. We enjoyed walks on the historic grounds, a sunset picnic in the garden, lovely meal in the dining room, and glass of wine around the fire with new found friends one evening, we walked up to the nearby pub and found the locals welcoming and jovial. Mark and his hounds are exemplary hosts and the donkeys are an added bonus. If life allows, we will be back!

Not much to say here - The place has a magical air, going back twenty generations and set on the river makes for a fun experience. The room was comfortable, shared spaces delightful and setting was beautiful - maybe some would say a little tired and remodeling in the works. . Dog lovers paradise, but otherwise expect a little fur on your trousers. Close enough to the city for convenience (15e taxi) but far enough to feel like the country.

So much potential but so much work to be done to make the property acceptable. Dog friendly.
