Pet-Friendly Home w/ Beach in Northville!

The location was lovely and peaceful, gorgeous views of the lake from the deck, very convenient for the wedding we attended nearby.

We were deeply disappointed by the cleanliness and basic amenities. We were supposed to have two babies with us who did not join at the last minute and it is good that they didn’t, because the layout of the bedrooms allows for zero privacy whatsoever. There were many spiders (which we vacuumed) and, most concerning, a fly infestation in the kitchen. None of the beds had top sheets, the duvets were dirty, and as it is a pet friendly property my allergies were terrible each morning after sleeping in those beds. There were also barely five clean towels—all worn out—for five adults, not enough towels for women to have a second for their hair. When looking for a hair dryer (there was none), we discovered one of the closest had a huge pile of dirty sheets from previous guests! It is clear they ask guests to strip the beds and take out the garbage because they do next to nothing between guests. We also requested early check in and the property manager never acknowledged our request. For the amount this property costs—not cheap!—I am deeply saddened that we were so grossed out that we couldn’t wait to leave. Accommodations should never make guests feel dirty. This property could easily go from a 5 to an 8 if it was actually and thoroughly cleaned between guests and if the hosts invested $500ish at Target for all new 100% cotton sheets, bedding, and towels. I hope the owners take this sincere review to heart and consider investing in their property and check what their property manager is actually doing. Great Sacandaga Lake is a very special place, and rental guests deserve to feel like they have a slice of home as cozy as the pie from JF Farmstore, no matter how short their stay.
