    Ferndale Retreat is truly something special. My wife and I were blown away by how beautifully the property is built and how every detail has been thoughtfully crafted. It’s a world-class hospitality experience that elevates the natural beauty of the Knuckles Reserve. The ambience is warm, the rooms are spotless, the bathroom is super clean, the linen is fresh, and everything in the room works perfectly. And the view—absolutely breathtaking. From the cutlery and fittings to the warm smiles, every detail feels intentional. Sujith and his team delivered expert butler service throughout our stay, and Chef Sunil impressed us with every meal—make sure you ask him for his cinnamon and cardamom tea; it’s unforgettable. Jason, the team leader, is an absolute gentleman. The way he understands each guest and gets his team working in perfect unison is wonderful to see. A big shoutout to Charaka—an amazing guide with excellent driving skills. Being picked up in a Defender was a treat for me as a car lover. And Chaminda, the owner, was extremely gracious and so easy to talk to; his warmth sets the tone for the entire place. I’ve rarely seen a team so evenly matched in hospitality, professionalism, character, and friendliness. Everyone here is genuinely special. One tip: If you enjoy a drink, feel free to bring your own—the retreat does not stock spirits. And remember, this is a tropical rainforest. It’s raw, misty, magical, and unfiltered. If you can’t handle a few insects or nature at its finest, this might not be for you. But if you’re ready to truly disconnect, Ferndale Retreat is pure mountain magic.
