I am American and used to American standards and all the local hotels are at a much less modern setup. Clean room, parking is a little expensive and sucks, and as far as a beach that is a little bit of an exaggeration.

Great location as a short walk from the cable car up to Taormina and a local beach, Mazzaro. Staff friendly and room comfortable plus, what a view!

Stayed 3 nights at Bay palace hotel, Mazzaro. We hit the last weekend of the season. Weather was still great 25 degrees day time mild nights. Place was quite as not many tourists around. No long queues, so enjoyed travelling around. Excellent location, beautiful town Taormina centre is 10mins on bus. Isola Bella and cable car to go up to town 7mins walk. There are lots of shops and restaurants near Isola Bella. Taormina town is beautiful. From top you can see mount Etna. Town centre is full of shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Stunning views all round.
For the hotel, staff was excellent. Good continental breakfast. Clean rooms with all the 4 star facilities. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Taormina.
