Villa Wellia

Really lovely villa, owners were very nice all the facilities such as kitchen area, pool etc were great, it’s been renovated to a very high standard. We had the room with two bunk beds as a family it was a bit small but manageable as you can relax in the other areas of the house. If you want peaceful and relaxation it’s located a couple of kms out of the main town. An easy tuk tuk ride in and out though.

Das Haus ist super schön und ansprechend eingerichtet. Der Garten ist gepflegt, der Pool groß und sauber. Wir hätten uns zwar noch ein paar mehr Liegen im Schatten gewünscht, damit wir nicht auf den Säcken bzw. der Matratze am Boden liegen müssen (Ameisen), aber hat für die kurze Zeit gereicht. Das Besitzer-Pärchen und auch das Housekeeping Personal waren super nett. Sie haben uns sogar Essen von ihrem Local „Rice & Curry“-Restaurant gebracht und unsere Jungs fanden es super lecker (sehr scharf hahaha). Wir haben dort (leider) nur eine Nacht in einem Vierbettzimmer verbracht, trotzdem haben wir so viele wertvolle Tips von den Eigentümern erhalten. Ebenso Restaurant-Empfehlungen, die wirklich super waren. Die Küche dürfen alle Gäste gemeinsam nutzen, ebenso Basic-Nahrungsmittel wie Wasser, Kaffee (;)) oder bspw Öl zum Kochen ist alles for sharing - das ist cool. Ebenso kann man den Kühlschrank für seine Sachen nutzen, was wir auch als super praktisch erachten. Wirklich gut durchdacht. Die Lage ist etwas abseits der bekannten, belebten Straße in Weligama, aber mit dem TukTuk in 3 Min erreichbar.

The villa is nicely presented and clean. The staff were friendly and kindly shared the contact details of a local tuk-tuk driver who was excellent and very helpful during our stay.

There was ongoing building work directly below the pool area, which made it noisy and less relaxing during the day. In the evenings, very loud temple chanting nearby significantly disrupted our sleep. The air conditioning unit in our room also leaked repeatedly overnight (around 00:45, 02:00 and 06:00), which caused further disturbance. For £110 per night, we felt the overall experience did not reflect the price point.
