Magical double bedroom duplex

The location was good. The apartment was fully equipped, we have found whatever we needed.

In the listing photos, we saw the best parts of what was once a fine old apartment. But the space has been chopped up to create bedrooms, none of them very good. The best "bedroom" was also the most grand room of the whole place. It had a lovely four poster bed along with a bay window, but there are no walls separating the sleeping area from the rest of the apt. For a single person or a couple it might be a great space but for a group, not so much. Whoever is in that bedroom will have ppl walking by en route to the kitchen or bathroom. The wonderful tall ceilings allowed space for two additional "bedrooms" to be created more or less out of thin air, located in cramped areas up under the ceiling. The least-bad is up some crudely-built stairs, leading to a small space with a mattress on a platform that is reached by a ladder. The other bedroom, located above the kitchen, only has a a mattress on the floor for a bed but worse, the room is accessed by pulling a folding ladder down from a ceiling in the kitchen. And if the ladder is down, it blocks the bathroom door. I’m not sure who that would work for, but it didn’t work for my group so one of us had to sleep on the couch in the anteroom next to the kitchen, which the hosts are apparently calling the living room. With someone using that room as their bedroom, there was no “living room” or common space where we could gather other than a small room by the front windows. That is a lovely, photogenic space with a velvet drapes and a nice old table and chairs, but the furniture is too big for the space—which means the chairs are either blocking the path to the far side of the table, or they’re blocking the stairs to the first makeshift bedroom. The one bathroom is cramped with no natural light and no ventilation--but it did have a liquid-dispensing gadget inside the toilet bowl that was so malodorous it was honestly eye-watering.

In the kitchen there were a lot of knick knacks but few functional appliances or equipment other than an electric water kettle. The only coffee maker is an espresso machine that we couldn’t get to work, nor could we get the induction stove top to work, and because there was no microwave, toaster oven, nor even a toaster, we had no way to heat or cook anything at all. The silverware and dishes were grungy and mostly had to be washed before using. There was no coffee, no napkins, and only a few paper towels. We received just one key for three people, so on arrival I messaged the host asking for additional keys but got no response—ever. The three of us made do sharing the lone key by leaving it in the lockbox on the street, but that was far from ideal. There were homeless ppl sleeping on that block and while I live in New York City and felt safe enough, it was uncomfortable to be fumbling around with a lockbox in the dark in a strange city. The front door from the street to the building’s entry hall was often unlocked too, and that felt a little creepy. The common areas were shabby and shadowy, and there was a big heap of discarded junk piled in the stairwell. After I originally booked this apt, I received a boilerplate confirmation with instructions on how to get the key from the lockbox, and that was the only info or communication I ever received. There was no info in the apt about anything at all and we had basic questions, like what to do with the trash. So in addition to writing the host about keys, I wrote a few days later asking what to do with trash, pointing out that there were no trash bags. Again, no response. Not a word, ever. In general we liked the location and the stately original architecture, but I can’t recommend this place nor this host.

Great property, clean and spacious. Awesome location as location in the centre with 3-5m walk to restaurants.

The location is very good and space is well designed.

Os eletrodomésticos estavam novos e a localização é 7min. de uma parada de ônibus que liga a todos os pontos turísticos. O suporte da equipe durante nossa estadia também foi excelente.

Talvez para uma estadia em casal faça sentido a acomodação, para um grupo de 6 que foi o nosso caso não. A casa é antiga e tem um ar meio sinistro com a decoração interna, a cama principal fica localizada no meio da sala e os outros 2 quartos próximos ao teto. Tem somente um banheiro que não tem qualquer sistema de circulação de ar, sem janela ou basculante. Acessibilidade também é um ponto, uma média de 3 lances de escada.
