This location well deserves a five star plus rating. The home was so clean you could smell the cleanliness. The great room with the high ceiling was breathtaking. The room was decorated beautifully and with comfort in mind. The kitchen had everything you needed. And add the bonus of fresh sweet bread and farm fresh eggs from the hostess!! So many coffee selections for the Keurig and snacks for movie night. The wifi and cable connection was awesome and the tv was set up for whatever you wanted to watch. On to the master bedroom and bath. Both were huge and the bed was so comfortable. The entire house was decorated with high end choices and looked like it was just remodeled. My sister and I stayed for 3 nights and we are picky about our surroundings. Needless to say we had no complaints about the Dogwood Cottage!!

We were in town for a week long disc golf tournament outside of Lynchburg. After looking at our options in the area we chose Lisa and Dale's farmhouse bungalow in Alta Vista VA. It certainly lived up to our expectations and much much more! The home itself is lovely and newly renovated. The detail is unmatched to any other short term rental we have ever stayed in. The property is an oasis of rolling hills and meadows stretching as far as the eye can see. It truly is a story book cottage. If this weren't enough the hosts, Lisa and Dale, were exceptionally kind and generous. Each morning, breakfast would unexpectedly show up at our front door (fresh baked muffins, cakes, breads, fruit etc). It was all delicious! We had the chance as well to visit with Lisa and Dale who are wonderful people. They go above and beyond to make sure your stay is one you will not forget! Highly recommend to anyone looking.

We were pleasantly surprised and loved the few changes of decor from the pictures. The patchwork bee decor in the double-bed bedroom was adorable! The chair pull-out beds, for the littles were pulled out and ready with crisp colorful comforters for a good night sleep! We added a twin air mattress that just fit for my third “grand” -little!!
The master bedroom decor is beautiful and the room is so spacious!!!
The living space was so cozy and comfortable!!!!
We loved the “booth” in the kitchen eat in area.
The bathrooms couldn’t have been nicer!!!
Speaking of nice…our host/hostess went above and beyond with a basket of teas, honey and homemade baked goods. Then warm baked oatmeal delivered the next morning!!! Not to mention extra little gift-bags for the three littles!! Thank you again, Lisa!!!!
Just note: there are no closets in the two small bedrooms. I usually unpack everything as if I’m going to live there… I happened to pack in TJ Maxx/HomeGoods, shopping bags, and it worked out perfect. However there is a luggage rack for suit cases!

I would have loved to had longer to stay!!!
I would love to come back…Lord willing and the creek don’t rise!

We couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more anywhere else! We came into town to interview venues for our daughter’s wedding. The highlight of our whole trip was this meticulously, kept, tastefully, furnished, and comforting cottage.
The sunrises are incredible, and the view of the rolling hills are breathtaking. Thank you for all the treats. (as in warm baked oatmeal, farm, fresh eggs, bananas, etc.) we truly were thankful for how well stocked with all the creature comforts of home that were available in this Airbnb.
