We were there for Manistee's 4th of July events and the location cannot be beat--walking distance to beach and downtown. Watched the fireworks from just up the street, walked over to the parade. Place itself was sparkly clean and well equipped with strong wifi, all sorts of kitchen things, gas grill, good A/C, washer & dryer. We watched world cup soccer games on the outdoor TV on the patio. Lots of parking: two driveways plus street parking is available. The yard was huge and very well maintained; our grandchildren were staying nearby and it became the gathering place for whiffle ball and volleyball, etc. Cannot say enough about the responsiveness of the owners: David & Cheryl. We had a significant house maintenance issue (one of those unpredictable things than can happen in any home) on Sunday July 5th, perhaps the busiest holiday weekend of the year for Manistee. David was all over it, came to the house personally, got the right maintenance guy on-site with an hour, and problem was fixed perfectly that day. We have rented different places in the USA and internationally for years and this was by far the quickest response to an issue I've ever experienced. A comment on occupancy. You can fit six in there but it is optimal for four. Overall, this place is a gem; I give it my highest recommendation for location, cleanliness, and owner responsiveness.

We had a great weekend in Manistee. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee and playing cards in the evenings at the table in the sunroom.

The house was nice, but we were promised rooms in the basement and the basement had a very heavily musty smell. We were unable to use the basement because of that. Bathroom bathroom upstairs also had a heavy musty smell. The fan was broken, but they fix it while we were there. That might’ve been part of the problem with the musty smell. Because the bathroom smells so musty one of the bedrooms did too. In fairness, our host told us that it had rained a lot previously. Manistee was small so we spent most of our time in Ludington, which was only half an hour away.
