We spent three nights at this lovely home, and it was the highlight of our trip to Savannah! We were in the Miriam Dent room (2Q). The beds were very comfortable and the room was beautiful. With the beautiful decor and furnishings, it was like we were transported back to another era. We were invited to make ourselves at home in the common areas, which were so lovely! It felt like we were valued guests in one of the historic showplace homes we had toured.
The innkeeper (Doc) was a true Southern gentleman, and each morning we looked forward to our delicious breakfast (served by Doc along with stories about each meal). Doc was also invaluable at providing us with tips for exploring Savannah (my new favorite travel destination!). Christine, who assisted with breakfast on the weekend we were there, made us feel so welcome. We felt cared for, like old friends, rather than hotel patrons.
The location of the Stephen Williams house is perfect for seeing the sights. You could easily spend several days wandering through the many gorgeous squares in town. We enjoyed visiting antique shops and taking a trolley tour. St. John the Baptist Cathedral is very impressive--be sure to go inside. Bonaventure Cemetery is a wonderful half day trip. There was a wonderful farmer's market with lots of handmade arts and crafts on Saturday morning in Forsythe Park. Free parking was available in the alley right behind the Stephen Williams House, which was super convenient when we chose not to walk.

We had a great experience with Dr. Wall and staff at The Stephen Williams House. The location in the historic downtown district is excellent, and the house is a wonderful, fully restored 1834 Federal mansion. The host was born and raised in Savannah and is a delightful font of historical information, including both what you might find in the history books and what you won't, including all about "the book!" Highly recommended. And parking is included, which is a real plus, though we walked everywhere we went (except Bonaventure Cemetery and Tybee Island).

What an amazing place. A totally different experience. The Doc is a real character and it was great to meet him. Don’t stay in a hotel, stay here.
