I loved the place, the female rooms are their own bathrooms, so you don't share with males. After I checked out I made an island tour and then I had my flight so they nicely let me take a shower and storage my lugagge after I checked out. Just also keep in mind that nearby there are some night clubs with music until late, for me it was find I still could rest the same.

I was in the female room and had a only female bathroom so it was convenient. At first they gave me a top bunk bed and it’s so high! If you’re scared of heights maybe you will have a problem with this. Also since the bed is above the AC it was a bit hot during the night. Later I was able to move to a lower bed and everything was perfect. The hostel is quiet and you don’t listen to much noise from the streets, and the pods give you a good privacy. If you’re looking for a quiet hostel but still with activities to socialise, this is the perfect place.

I debated staying here because I’m no longer a college kid—but wow, what a pleasant surprise. Positives: 1. The owner is easily the standout. Andrew is one of the most genuine and sincere hosts you’ll ever meet. While this is a hostel, he runs it with the care and attentiveness of a great Airbnb host. 10-stars. No matter how busy or tired he is, he always makes time for guests with a smile —whether it’s chatting about the local economy, helping with recommendations, or hailing a cab for an airport ride. In a town like this, having a manager who is always present and responsive is invaluable. He literally does everything, from bartending to plumbing 🪠! 2. The place is relatively clean and well maintained, which is often the biggest concern with budget hostels in Asia. You get fresh linens and a clean towel. Nothing smelled moldy, damp, or dirty. The hostel has also been recently updated, which shows. Room AC is left on all day. 3. The female dorm (6 beds) and female-only bathrooms are very much appreciated. On the 3rd floor, there are 4 shower stalls and 2 toilets accessible for women only. I never once had to wait. Mixed-gender bathrooms are also available. 3. Judging from the condition, couldn’t tell if the restrooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily but trash is emptied in the mornings, and rooms are swept after guests check out. There are towel racks outside your rooms for your towels (although mine went missing day 1- I like to think that was someone’s mistake; not intentional?!!) 4. During my one-week stay, most roommates were courteous—quiet, respectful, and mindful of our shared space. There were a couple of exceptions, but it was clear those individuals simply weren’t used to dorm living. I was lucky enough to get a lower bunk, which was a plus. There is an unspoken trust having your belongings in open space. But if you can get one, the lockers helped to lock your valuables away. 5. The vibe is perfect—for me. It’s not a party hostel like the one next door, but there’s always something going on without the chaos. Evenings have great music and a relaxed, chill atmosphere. 6. Location-wise, it suited me well as a climber as it’s walking distance to one of the crags. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the beach—so it is away from the extremely busy main strip. A short walk north leads to more local restaurants at a fraction of tourist prices. 7. Other pluses: • Free shots if you jump into the dip pool • Laundry available on-site, or across the street if you want to DIY and save a few baht • Organized group tours - if you are traveling alone, its not difficult to meet others. Although I just rented a bike and went on my own. • Small in house restaurant that offers incredibly delicious food from western and Asian menu, at affordable prices. What could be better: 1. Locker space is limited. When the room is at full occupancy, which often was the case since it was high season, there aren’t enough lockers for everyone, which makes storing luggage awkward and forces guests to get creative. 2. Water ran out three times in the women’s bathrooms on the 3rd floor during my stay. Once, a short circuit cut the electricity, which also meant no water, as the water pump requires power. I ended up stuck alone in the shower in complete darkness with shampoo in my eyes for quite some time 😞It was an extremely unpleasant experience. However, that said, power outage is due to an accident that night unlike water running out which usually happens when the water tanks are being refilled. I was just unlucky??Andrew apologized profusely for the incident. How can you get mad at such a nice host? 3. There’s a bar across the street with a very loud (and unfortunately terrible) band that plays into the early hours. The noise can be rough, though I was usually exhausted enough that it didn’t affect my sleep. Overall: This isn’t a hotel, so as long as expectations are set accordingly, The Hangout is an awesome budget spot to stay. I’d happ
