JOIVY 1-Bed Flat In Edinburgh Old Town

Great for the right traveller but we would not book again. The property is located towards the end of the mile which is a great location, perfect for food and drink and walking to all local attractions, it really is in a perfect spot. Coming from a quiet coastal town, we did find the noise levels very loud, you can hear the street all day and night, people, cars, buses, bin men…this did keep us a lot and not helped by the single glazed windows that rattle when the local bus passes by. Not a huge deal, but it was noticeable for us. They are also very draughty in cold weather, but the heating control is good, so that cancels out. The photos of the flat are expertly taken, as they make it look a lot cosier and bigger than it is. We really think this is just personal taste and expectation, but it’s the small things that matter. The bed is a small double, very comfy but we found it small, the bathroom is tiny, you can sit on the toilet, brush your teeth and shower all at the same time, no exaggeration. We also didn’t have any hand soap available, no biggie but annoying. The living room is ok, a terrible lumpy sofa and tiny dated TV didn’t make the evenings very cosy and we spent most of our down time sitting on the bed for more comfort instead. The kitchen is fine, well kitted out, tiny but absolutely fine to use and clean. Overall the flat was clean and tidy in general. Like I said, it’s ok. Great location, simple and basic flat. No frills and lacking small comforts.
