About this house rental

Summary:

Mandarin Escape is groovy on purpose, a retro two-bedroom on a hilltop in Yucca Valley's Western Hills Estates, with a big bay of windows, beanbags, a guitar and a record player. Take in the view from the raised deck and its daybed, slip down to the hot tub tucked in the boulders or the two seasonal cowboy tubs (closed November through March), then fire up the grill. Bedrooms come in Grapefruit pink and Lemon yellow, and one hides a secret jungle cubby. Citrus, sunshine, a little funk.

The Space:

Mandarin Escape is a retro-inspired, 2,000 sq ft two-bedroom home on a hilltop in the Western Hills Estates neighborhood of Yucca Valley. Its large raised deck has views in every direction, and downstairs a covered patio leads to a hot tub in the boulders and two cowboy tubs. Inside, a big bay of windows lights a warm, groovy living area, and two queen bedrooms, the Grapefruit Room and the Lemon Room, each have their own seating area. It suits couples and small groups. Find the secret jungle cubby before your friends do.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The large raised deck has miles of views in every direction, with sunrises and sunsets to match. Grill on the propane BBQ and eat at the outdoor dining table, read on the daybed, catch some sun on the lounge chairs or gather around the fire pit. It is a great spot for yoga, too. Downstairs, the covered patio offers shade with the same views and leads to the private hot tub, two cowboy tubs and more lounge chairs. The cowboy tubs are not an in-ground pool and are closed November through March. A table and chairs sit up on the private hill of boulders for views farther out. The yard is not fully fenced.

-Living Area-

A big bay of windows fills the warm, retro living area with light and desert views. Sink into the beanbag chairs with your morning coffee or gather on the large couch for a movie. A record player and records, a guitar, board games and fun retro accessories for photos are on hand.

-Kitchen and Dining-

The fully equipped kitchen has spacious countertops, double ovens, a KitchenAid mixer, a Café drip coffee maker, a Smeg toaster and plenty of pots, pans, utensils, baking trays and serving dishes. Eat at the oval indoor table for six or at the deck dining table with views.

-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Both bedrooms are spacious, each with a queen bed, blackout curtains, ample closet space, a desk and a private seating area. The Grapefruit Room is done in warm pinks, and the primary has a private patio. The Lemon Room is filled with mustard yellows, with a couch for watching TV and the home's secret jungle cubby.

Check in was simple, communication was quick and easy. A 5 minute drive to the grocery store and a 10-15 minute drive to Joshua Tree. Gorgeous views from the rooftop deck as well as from inside the house. Lots of space for our family of 4 to rest and reset on our spring break. The tiger, sloth and monkey were a delight to find.
