The Circle Hostel, La Union

Zeer goede locatie, goede bedden, gordijntjes zijn voorzien voor privacy en je hebt ook een stopcontact. De handdoeken die je krijgt, zijn niet ideaal, drogen niet zo goed maar dit is maar een klein detail.

Location, how it was structured, daily maintenance of the toilets and bedsheets, approachability and kindess of the staff, access to La Union events via their bulletin board, relaxing public space, and acces to rides to San Fernando Partas bus terminal-- these were some (if not all) of the positives in staying here. Would definitely stay here again for a solo trip. They also have a co-working space available in the vicinity.

Some amenities are a little bit worn out (i.e.,, bidet quite loose that it drips) or not usable (i.e., drawers under the bunk beds with locks aren't really able to be locked).

The location is excellent and the staff is very friendly. The communal areas are a big plus: the kitchen is fully equipped and the coworking space is great, with a reliable internet connection that was perfect for remote work. The place was also very clean.

The room was extremely small, and considering the high price, the fact that breakfast is not included is disappointing. It doesn't seem justified to pay this much.

The hostel is very much near must-eat places and the beach. They have common area where you can chill and do work or workout. Our room is spacious enough for 2 people. Kitchen is complete with everything we need/can use although I only cooked ramyeon the night before our check-out. :) Water pressure is good. Place is very simple and clean yet very aesthetic. The owner is very approachable and accommodating. Check in and check out were a breeze. They have a resto/cafe inside but we didn’t get to try it, probably on our next visit. :)

Not really CONS but things that we observed during our stay - They have parking space but is very limited and on a first come first serve basis. There’s a pay parking space beside the hostel though. The road towards the hostel might be too tight for bigger vehicles such as vans. Wifi connection was slow at times esp at night. Weak data connection for Smart or GOMO users. Sink was too low and a little small for the slightly bigger faucet. The bamboo thingies where you can hang your towels or clothes were flimsy, so you’d have to be careful in getting off or putting on your clothes.
