The hotel looks great and the grounds are too. The several members of staff on our arrival were sat in the reception/ bar eating there dinner. Not a professional first impression. We were given our key and pointed in the direction of the main building and told your rooms in there. The main building and more than one set of stairs that lead separately to different upstairs areas and no room number signs to help. Our room was pleasant, tidy, roomy and well appointed. Coffee machine had used pods left inside and stale water in the container. The iron leaked more than a sieve! The bathroom was nice but spoilt by a loose fitting broken toilet seat and a large crack across the basin!
This is not a fine dining restaurant, as described. It has a very small menu and the evening staff were all very young and were not really cut out for the job. They had no customer service skills, didn't know anything about the food and served me a different drink to the one I ordered. I got the wrong main course and when the correct one arrived, my wife had almost finished hers. It wasn't very nice and would probably been more suited to a Beefeater! The breakfast wasn't much better, the Full English had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp and my wife's smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were just unpleasant. The staff were far too young, didn't have a clue and were not really very helpful. There didn't seem to be a manager around when we asked. It is in a good location but I wouldn't recommend this hotel and we will not be staying there again
