Villa Casablanca

We stayed at the villa for two weeks and overall had a very good experience. The villa was very nice, reasonably spacious and well equipped, with a good fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and TV. However, I would say it is best suited for up to five people, as there is only one indoor toilet/bathroom and one outdoor summer shower. The neighbourhood was relaxed, and the neighbours were friendly and helpful. The host was cooperative, responsive and listened to our comments. The nature around Sant’Alessio Siculo was amazing. The sea was brilliant — mostly calm, clear, and with lots of fish — although the beach is rocky. The location is also a good base for exploring eastern Sicily, including Messina, Taormina, Savoca and Etna, with easy access to the A18/E45 motorway. A few things to be aware of: the house is located below/near the motorway, so traffic noise was noticeable at night. There are two air-conditioning units, but only one could be used at a time, and they switched off automatically when leaving the house. Streets in the area are very narrow, and parking is limited. For bakeries, butcher’s shop, supermarkets and souvenirs, it is better to go to nearby Forza d’Agrò, about 10 minutes by car. There is also a very good fishmonger in Sant’Alessio Siculo.

Cleanliness could be improved. Some of the bed linen was stained and the bath towels did not feel properly clean. Several kitchen utensils were either dirty or damaged — for example, the moka pot had a broken handle. The outdoor pizza oven was not working, and the garden watering system seemed faulty, spraying water around the area. Another issue was that the actual location of the villa was different from the address shown on Google Maps, so it took us a few hours to find the property on arrival. Clearer arrival instructions or an accurate map pin would have been very helpful. The villa is located within a fenced residential block of houses. It is about a 15-minute walk from the beach, or around 3 minutes by car, but parking near the seaside was very limited.

Szép villa, jó felszereltséggel. A kis kert gyönyörű. Biztonságos, elkerített lakóövezetben van. A közelben több szép kis város található és Taormina is könnyen elérhető autóval. A tulajdonos általában felvette a telefont és gyorsan intézkedett, ha komoly baj volt. A képeken látható pizzasütő nem használható, de van más grillezési lehetőség.

A hűtő elromlott amíg ott voltunk, így néhány étel amit vásároltunk, tönkrement. A szállásadó ezért visszatérítést ígért, ez még folyamatban van. A hűtőt másnap kicserélték.

Es un lugar para estar tranquilo, muy familiar y localización agradable. La terraza es preciosa, y te sientes como si estuvieras en casa.

La villetta è graziosa e si presenta in ordine e ben fornita di utensili ed elettrodomestici; Presenza di WiFi; Presenza di aria condizionata; Presenza di parcheggio all’interno del complesso residenziale; I proprietari sono cortesi ed educati: nonostante una mia errata interpretazione di quanto riportato sulla prenotazione, pagando un sovrapprezzo ho potuto ospitare due amici per una parte della durata del soggiorno.

Posizione: senza un mezzo motorizzato è difficile raggiungere la spiaggia in quanto la villetta è abbastanza distante dal mare e vi è una ripida salita. Privacy: desta perplessità non tanto la presenza all’ingresso di una telecamera, collocata per motivi di sicurezza e opportunamente segnalata con apposito cartello, quanto l’utilizzo che ne viene fatto: i proprietari monitorano costantemente l’accesso alla casa, con conseguente invasione della sfera privata degli ospiti. Legittimo o no, a me personalmente ha dato molto fastidio il fatto di ricevere una chiamata in cui mi è stato detto “abbiamo visto dalle telecamere che avete ospiti”. Rumore: si avverte il rumore delle auto che transitano sul ponte dell’autostrada. Insetti: Zanzariere assenti. Vista la presenza del giardino esterno, e, conseguentemente, di molti insetti, questo potrebbe creare qualche problema. Gestione dei rifiuti: il giorno prima della fine del soggiorno vengono inviate le istruzioni per il check out, in cui viene riportato quanto segue: “Per favore, ricordatevi di PORTARE VIA LA SPAZZATURA, potrete lasciarla in uno dei tanti contenitori in giro per la città”. Richiesta che è stata reiterata, sebbene a titolo di cortesia, più volte anche dagli stessi proprietari. Al fine di evitare problemi ai futuri ospiti, faccio presente che è vietato conferire presso i cestini pubblici in città i rifiuti prodotti nelle abitazioni.
