About this apartment rental
Luxury flat in a half-timbered building dating from 1567, listed as a historic monument.
120 m², renovated by an architect and interior designer, on the first floor with a lift.

Please note: Until the end of August, light and sound shows are projected onto the cathedral’s façade in the evenings. As the flat is situated directly opposite, you’ll enjoy a prime view of this spectacle, though some noise may be noticeable whilst it is taking place.
The accommodation comprises:
- A fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances
- A bright, open-plan living room with sofas, a TV and a coffee table, offering a direct view of the cathedral
- A luxurious master suite with a TV, a large wardrobe, a chest of drawers, an electric double bed (separate mattresses) and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower
- A second bedroom with an electric double bed, TV, large wardrobe with full-length mirror and chest of drawers. The double-glazed stained-glass windows look out onto a particularly quiet inner courtyard

Place de la Cathédrale is the heart of Strasbourg. You’ll be staying in the heart of the historic quarter, surrounded by remarkable buildings, shops, restaurants, museums and cultural venues. Almost all the tourist attractions are within walking distance, so there’s no need to rely on public transport. The atmosphere is lively all year round, and particularly magical during the festive season.
Transport and parking:
- Parking is not available on the square and is difficult to find in the historic centre
- Gutenberg car park, a 2-minute walk away (€44/24 hours)
- Austerlitz car park, a 6-minute walk away (€22/24 hours)
Tram:
- Langstross Grand’ Rue stop, a 5-minute walk away (lines A and D – 7 minutes to the main station)
- ‘Homme de Fer’ stop, a 6-minute walk away (15 mins to the European Parliament)

Great place, everything was perfect. Location excellent, room excellent, the place was perfect perfect. One problem and only one. The hall way and entrance dark and very hard to get it. Need better lighting in hall way.I would rent that place again and again. What a gem!!!!

On arrival, the outside entrance was a little concerning, but the apartment itself was all it was advertised to be. The unit's keypad was initially hard to find in the darkness of the hallway, high up on the door frame. The description was that it was in the center of things, but we did not appreciate beforehand how much that was so. The cathedral square is crowded and full of activity (until about 9:30 PM), but the double-paned windows reduce the noise to a background hum (in October). Always something to watch going on outside. Usually one or two buskers plying their trade, some very good. The cathedral bell ringing was not an issue for us. Everything we needed was a short walk away, and the tram service to the station or outer neighborhoods was easy. In our week in the unit, we slept and relaxed well. We did not need to contact the host. Instructions were clear and comprehensive.

The apartment is in an absolutely fantastic visual location, and is literally opposite the main entrance of the Cathedral. This has advantages and disadvantages. PROS: The apartment offers unbeatable views from a central location. There is one brighter room, and one darker quieter one so would be ideal if staying with children. The apartment is incredibly spacious with fully separate living and sleeping quarters. You can enjoy an elevated view of the Cathedral square, and there is space to entertain a couple of guests if you and others are travelling to the same location.CONS: The apartment is very hot and noisy, with unreliable access. I would expect more proactive servicing of the apartment given the cost. There was no air conditioning, and while there were fans, the one in the master suite was dirty, and one of the two in the living space was broken. The TVs did not work at all. While we did have amazing views of the light show at the cathedral when they were testing it, on our last night it went into full effect and it looped 12 times interfering with sleep. Similarly, the apartment is above a bar and people were up cheering the football until 1am. The crockery in the apartment was also dirty when we took it out to use it. This may be explained by an email saying that if we did not take out the trash, and wash and pack away all dishes, that we would be charged an additional cleaning fee. This was sent the day before checkout.
