Aubussargues and Uzès charm visitors with their beauty and rich history. Just 8 kilometres apart, these two villages offer a striking contrast whilst complementing each other perfectly.
Aubussargues, a peaceful village with a population of 355, charms visitors with its authentic Provençal character. Its church, its 19th-century Protestant chapel and its washhouse on the banks of the Bourdic bear witness to its past. The château, which is privately owned, is not open to the public, but its exterior architecture is well worth a visit.
Uzès, designated a ‘Town of Art and History’, boasts a medieval town centre with picturesque narrow streets lined with Renaissance houses. Its famous Duché, overlooking the town, houses the Georges Borias Museum, which traces the history of the region. The Place aux Herbes, bustling with its markets, and Saint-Théodorit Cathedral, a Romanesque gem, complete this striking panorama.
Aubussargues offers a haven of peace for nature lovers and walkers. The GR6 trail runs through the village, inviting visitors to explore the rolling countryside and surrounding vineyards.
Uzès, a livelier town, offers a wide range of activities. Stroll through its markets, visit its many museums and art galleries, catch a show at the Théâtre Antique, or sample local specialities in its gourmet restaurants.
Whether you’re seeking tranquillity or cultural discoveries, Aubussargues and Uzès are sure to delight you.
