Lily Hostel

Easily the cleanest hostel I've EVER seen. I've been travelling 30 years and nowhere is cleaner. Girls especially will appreciate this. There is not one speck of dust anywhere. You could eat your dinner off the sparkling beautiful tiled floors. The checkered floor tiles give the place an almost french bistro feel with the cute tables and chairs in the reception area and the flower pots and plants and bright window. The owner Lilly keeps this business running like a well oiled machine. She has apparently been here ten years and is still improving the building. She has a little cafe serving coffee and if you ask nicely she may give you one for free when she is around. I had the most amazing (2) strong Vietnamese black coffees this morning whilst chatting with lily and getting all the information about the best eateries and shops and markets that she uses, not the usual average tourist places. She has all the information you could need. The coffee was smooth, surprisingly not bitter for such strength and an aroma I can only describe as toasted hazelnut. Of course being a coffee lover I made her write down the name so I can get some for myself at her recommended shop. The hostel itself is inside a lane actually right off the centre of walking street district 1. You walk outside the hostel 30 metres and you are surrounded by clubs bars , sports bars, restaurants, street food etc. There is a 7/22 convenience store right outside the hostel 20 steps away. During the day it's Very quiet, at night the whole street outside goes bananas in a good way. If you want nightlife, this is the nightlife street capital of Vietnam right outside your door. Having said that the dorm I'm staying in is on the top 3 rd floor, there is obviously some noise from the dozens of businesses downstairs but because the hostel is tucked inside the laneway it's protected from 90 pc of the noise. It's surprising how quiet it is inside compared to when you go outside onto the street. I fell to sleep in minutes after exploring the city all day the beds are SO COMFORTABLE. slightly firm hoe I like them but clean and fresh beautiful scent of the fabric conditioner they must use on the bedsheets. I seriously wanted to stay in bed all day but I had to go downstairs to tell lily I was extending my stay as it was so comfortable . I m about to go extend further as it's not even worth bothering looking for anywhere else. This place has the lot. It's so inexpensive, CLEAN, and Lily is such a beautiful hostess. I can't recommend this place more highly if you are looking stay near vu bien/ walking street in district 1. It's only a few minutes walk from the big park which at one end has the central modern bus station you can get to anywhere in Vietnam from. Also things to mention. HOT MODERN SHOWER. Shampoo, Shower gel provided. And a separate was basin with huge mirror outside of the toilet and shower cubicles (separate) so someone can do their makeup or brush their teeth if someone else wants to use the shower. 7 beds in the dorm I'm in. Fridge provided in the room. Also new lockers with keys provided free. There's a strong emphasis also on safety. Fire extinguishes, smoke hoods outside the room in case of fire, escape routes on each floor do you don't need to worry about anything like that. I would finally say this place seems perfect for couples or females especially as it's so clean but there is a mix of male and female in my dorm. Double private rooms available also. The other guests seem really chilled, I didn't notice anyone rolling in drunk during the night, to be honest it doesn't have that kind of feel even though it's so close to the clubs. I don't think this place is for party animals, there are plenty of those hostels around. If you want somewhere serious where you can explore HCM from the most central point this is it. The location is good but it’s within the noisy area due to the bars near the hostel. But the noise was not that audible in our room, at least on our side of the place. The staff was nice overall. She may come across as grumpy but she is actually friendly. I really enjoyed her cooking as well. The room is quite spacious for four people. Best option for groups tbh. My only issue is the aircon. It was a little noisy. It wasn’t an issue to my friends but it was to me, as a light sleeper. Eventually, I got used to it or probably I was just too tired from our daily trips. Overall, good price. Good hostel. Nice staff

If you want to stay close to Bui Vien then chose Lily’s hostel. Perfect location and the noise wasn’t that bad as other reviews suggest. Cherry on top was Lin who was the best host and made the best Vietnamese coffee. Thank you Lin
