The property is well located in Tashkent city with many restaurants and shops.

Some of the lights were not working and there was only 1 knife. The mattress was very hard and the bedding could do with updating. The shower was great but the toilet had an unpleasant smell. Communication was difficult as the owner did not speak English and my Russian is limited.

Proximity to my meetings, the hosts were friendly, the flat was roomy and could be reached by stairs and lift. When we asked to check in an hour earlier than indicated, this was agreed straight away (however, on arrival the cleaning of the flat was not complete, the cleaner was still busy for one more hour).

First surprise was a demand for cash payment. Booking.com's information indicated otherwise: a. the sentence specifically stating: "You will be charged a prepayment of the total price at any time". b. A warning that "Your card issuer may charge you a foreign transaction fee". 9 mill. sum in cash for 5 nights. The flat had been cleaned hurriedly and various hairs of previous guests remained in bed and bathroom drains. One bathroom had a very unpleasant smell from the shower drain, as this was badly constructed and did not close properly. I had read previous guests' mention of the smell and therefore asked the host before arrival if the smell problem was gone. He answered that it no longer smelled. This was not true. The hosts later showed me why there was a smell. So it was clear that the host knew that there was a bad smell problem, but had chosen to deny this in communication prior to our stay there. Our first morning there was no hot water. I complained, the host came around to investigate, and at that time (and for the rest of our stay) there was hot water again. I still do not understand why hot water failed the first morning. So, could this possibly happen again? Lack of hot water in the morning is annoying when your attention needs to be elsewhere ahead of 12 hours of business meetings. The hosts had provided plenty of towels. But several towels gave off a smell akin to unclean, wet dog indicating that they had not been dried properly. Not what you look forward to after a shower. There are good clothes closets in the hallway. But inside (apart from a vacuum cleaner), there were a few cheap metal clothes hangers (the type that dry cleaners often provide). In the clothes cupboard in the main bedroom I did not find a single clothes hanger. An improvement would be if some better clothes hangers (e.g. in wood) were provided. Bedroom No 2 had little storage space. Communication difficult; I have no Russian, host does not speak English.
