About this house rental
This cozy waterfront home/cottage is situated on Herendeene Lake, which is a no-wake lake. It's a beautiful and tranquil lake, perfect for fun and relaxation. Just steps away to a private beach. The property has two bedrooms and one bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a queen bed and bunk beds, while the other bedroom has a full-sized bed. The bathroom features a shower/tub combination.
The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals and snacks. Although there is no dishwasher, there is a washer and dryer available. The house is fitted with fans and enjoys a nice breeze. Additionally, there is a screened ridge vent that remains open to let the heat escape. Closing the curtains during the warmest part of the day keeps the home comfortable since there is no air conditioning. There are areas in the house that you will need to step up or step down.
One well-behaved dog is welcome with an additional nonrefundable cleaning fee. However, humans are expected to clean up after their pets.
The property also includes a gas grill for barbecues, a picnic table for outdoor dining, and a fire pit for cozy evenings. A row boat and a canoe are provided for lake adventures. The lakefront has a soft sandy bottom for swimming. Younger guests will enjoy the play set in the yard.
The house is 20 minutes from Traverse City, 15 minutes from Interlochen, 20 minutes from Empire, and 25 minutes from the Sleeping Bear Dunes.

It was ok. The cottage is very poorly constructed. We did not like that there were big drops from one room to the next, and a handmade moveable step was placed to step on. This was a bit dangerous for us since we are older & I have had a hip replacement. It was also a struggle for our 8 yr old Labrador. I also wish there was a grab handle in the shower for safety. The kitchen cabinets & counter were horrible; extremely cheap and very old. The grounds were nice, but the tons of steps down to the lake were precarious. This rental is not good for an older couple or anyone with any kind of mobility issue. It was very clean, and the mattress was comfortable. But the step situation was dangerous for anyone! The view of the lake was nice; it’s a pretty little lake.

We loved being at this cottage. It was peaceful and the lake was great for kayaking and swimming. We spent a day at sleeping bear dunes and this location was an easy drive for that. There is no air conditioning and we knew that before we went but it happened to be very hot during the week we were there so that was not very comfortable. Would be much more cozy in a cooler season (though I imagine the lake would be colder too). Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Terrific cottage on quiet lake - great for families (lake with dock, kayak, canoe, fire pit, hammock, outdoor seating, laundry, well-stocked kitchen, etc) and just 15-20 minutes from everything in the area. No AC but cool at night even on hot days.
