The house was generally well-appointed. It was off-season, so we couldn't use the pool; however, if we had, we didn't realize that the pool is about 30 yards from the house. With as dark as it is outside, that may have been problematic.The two first-floor bedrooms share an unattached bathroom and have very little to no closet space at all. We found the gas fireplaces difficult to light. Light switches throughout the house were frustrating to use and need to be labeled.The screened-in porch was nice, but there was a football-sized hole in one of the screens, so there were numerous ladybugs entering the space. (Fall is ladybug season down there.) The outdoor gas grill was nice.The surrounding dining scene is pretty much nonexistent, so pack plenty of food. In conclusion, if you are looking for a nice looking and well-equipped vacation home in the middle of nowhere, I can recommend The Castle on the Hill.

The kitchen was wonderful to work in. The house is spacious and beautiful! The grounds had many places to spread out and enjoy. We enjoyed the fire ring and grill. The pool was very nice.. a little chilly. The pool area was very accommodating. Missed the hot tub working.

What an amazing spacious getaway for a family dog for ages ranging 32 to 84. There was plenty of first floor rooms and bathrooms to accommodate all mobility levels. We do wish we had better planned for the distance from the house to the pool. There was difficulty in transport/distance for our older folks. We enjoyed all areas of the home and fire pit area. We did have some difficulty navigating the driveways at first but figured it out. We went to nearby McAthur to pick up pizza and to Lake Hope Lodge for a lovely dinner. Plenty of room for our little pup as well and just a great place overall. There were some very minor things that would not at all deter us from a revisit - some low lighting in some areas especially common areas; the hot tub was out of service but that was probably for the best with our crew! All in all would absolutely revisit.

The house was nice. We got a text that the hot tub was out so they offered a small package and a very small refund for the inconvenience. Seems it’s been out for a while due to other reviews we recently saw. We were notified just a few days before we checked in. The game room in the basement is not what was pictured. It’s a 3-in-1 table that is just a few feet long. So, we spent most of our time by the fire pit. Paid almost four thousand dollars for 2 nights to sit by a fire pit.
