A Wonderful Final Night in Sri Lanka We spent our last night in Sri Lanka at Bakers Cottage, and it was a wonderful way to finish our trip. The room was perfect, very clean, and beautifully arranged. We really loved the architecture and the peaceful atmosphere. The sound of the waves together with the birds created such a relaxing feeling, while the surrounding greenery made us feel comfortable and connected with nature. The swimming pool was also a highlight — clean, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing. We booked the Madu River mangrove boat ride and a visit to the turtle hatchery through the host, and both experiences were amazing. We also had an authentic Sri Lankan dinner, which was absolutely delicious and a lovely cultural experience. The host, Kasun, was extremely friendly and helpful. One of the most memorable parts of our stay was going with him to a nearby temple at night. He explained Buddhist culture and history to us in a very simple and interesting way, which gave us a genuine opportunity to connect with the local culture. Kasun has a great knowledge of Buddhism, history, and psychology, and his explanations made the experience even more meaningful. If you want to explore the area and experience the local culture, I highly recommend going with him. We will definitely come back. We were actually sad that we didn't have enough time to try the Ayurvedic massage! One piece of advice: don't book Bakers Cottage for only one night. Stay at least two nights so you have enough time to enjoy the cottage, relax by the pool, explore the surrounding area, visit the turtle hatchery, take a Madu River safari, and experience the local culture. A truly memorable place to end our Sri Lankan journey. ❤️🇱🇰

Everything was perfect

Kasun was incredibly helpful with arranging a river safari and transport to/from the turtles and a souvenir shop! The breakfast and dinners were excellent and huge (for a family of 4), the property was spacious, clean and very well presented. The swimming pool was great.

Nothing, it was brilliant

Heel vriendelijk personeel. Grote tafel pp het terras. Keuken aanwezig. Fijne douche. De vader reed ons in zijn tuktuk naar de schildpaddenopvang en bootsafari en stopte ook bij een supermarktje (op ons verzoek)

De accomodatie was niet schoon. Zwembad was ook niet helder. Ligging niet aan zee wat volgens omschrijving wel zo is. Avondeten voor 3000 roepie p.p. Is erg duur voor de kleine portie die je krijgt. Wel lekker klaargemaakt door de vrouw des huizes. Ontbijt erg weinig. Zie foto.

Der Eingangsbereich und der Garten des Gästehauses sind schön gestaltet. Der Sohn des Besitzers ist sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Die Matratze war Komfortabel.

Das Zimmer ist zwar grundsätzlich in Ordnung, wirkt jedoch deutlich älter und entspricht nicht den Bildern auf Booking. Es gab Flecken auf Sofa und Bett. Obwohl eine Küche angeboten wird mit Herd, sind keine Töpfe da und es gibt keinen Esstisch im Zimmer – gegessen wird ausschließlich auf der Terrasse. Morgens stören viele Fliegen, abends die Mücken. Lärm: Zwei Wachhunde bellen die ganze Nacht bis in die frühen Morgenstunden. Da es im Ort selbst wenig gibt, werden Aktivitäten angeboten, diese sind aber sehr teuer. Spa- und Wellnessangebote befinden sich nicht im Hotel, man muss dafür extra fahren. WLAN gibt es nur auf der Terrasse, im Zimmer kein Internet. Das Essen ist lecker, aber für die Menge und für Sri Lanka insgesamt zu teuer. Selbst für eine Tasse Tee werden 300 LKR extra berechnet. Zusätzlich wurde uns nach vollständiger Bezahlung ein kleiner Betrag an Wechselgeld (ca. 2–3 Euro) nicht zurückgegeben. Empfehlungen an den Gastgeber: WLAN-Repeater für Internet im Zimmer, Liegestühle und ein Ventilator auf der Terrasse. Ehrliche Bilder. Insgesamt wirkt vieles vor Ort ganz anders als auf Booking dargestellt.
