We were rather impressed by the side of the bedroom and toilet. Happy to have had a lovely balcony and beautiful views of Colchester. I'm quite sure I asked for a quiet room because of the previous reviews of the guests mentioned the noise downstairs. We heard the pub and the party goers until after 12am but it wasn't that bad if you kept the balcony door closed. Handy if you bring some earplugs too. I would choose the balcony side anyway just to wake up to the castle view any day.

After some trouble parking our car (which is the same as the other hotel), we found ourselves in a hot room with no airconditioning. I was incredibly happy to find a bath though, only to find out it had no warm water! Then, trying to sleep, there was a lot of noise from people outside and the fire alarm kept flikkering with a light. Very hard to get any sleep. My husband mentioned this only after paying but apparently they knew of the water issue but we paid full price anyway.
