Rooms- the rooms were very specious and well kept. Very high tech i.e. scanning key before selecting floor. Easy to request for room service and 'do not disturb' Easy control of the heating. Breakfast- excellent spread of food and choice. The best breakfast I have had for a long while. Minimum 10/10 rating. Staff- nothing to fault. Great level of service and staff very friendly and approachable. Very professional. Location- great to get into town very easily with cabs/Uber. I would highly recommend this hotel. I will definitely be returning.

Best stay so far. Clean room, modern design, big desk for writing and enjoying coffee, pillow bed comfy, toilet clean and shower all working very well. Very very comfortable stay. Reception great service, recommended me a shopping mall as my shoe sole came off. Im an official fan of Van Der Valk brand now.

Property clean and staff excellent. Approach to hotel felt like an industrial estate and view from window the same. Car is necessary to go into town. Lighting in dining room too dark at breakfast, and not enough light in room for reading. Good car parking (surface and underground) at a reasonable rate.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Van der Valk Hotel Gent, and I must say, it was an excellent experience from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality, making me feel welcome right away. Upon check-in, I was offered a lovely glass of cava, which was a nice touch and set the tone for a relaxing stay. The reception staff were not only friendly but also very helpful, providing me with all the information I needed about the hotel amenities and local attractions. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained – it’s incredibly clean, and everything feels fresh and well cared for. The rooms are spacious, modern, and thoughtfully designed, offering both comfort and style. I especially appreciated the comfortable bed, which made it easy to unwind after a day of exploring the city. The location of the hotel is also ideal. There are excellent public transport connections, making it easy to get to local pubs, restaurants, and other attractions. Whether you’re planning a night out in the city or a quiet evening at the hotel, you’ll find plenty of options nearby. The breakfast was another highlight of my stay – a great selection of fresh, high-quality items to start the day off right. There was a good variety of options, catering to different dietary preferences, and the dining area itself was bright and welcoming. Whilst the hotel is positioned close to the motorway it is on an industrial estate so reaching it wasn't what we expected. However, as soon as you enter the hotel you forget the journey as it was luxurious from the moment you step inside. The rooms, dining and drinks were all sublime

We only stayed at this hotel for one night. After a long drive, we arrived with no real expectations when booking—our main priorities were having secure parking (note: there’s a €10 fee) and being reasonably close to Ghent city centre. What we loved about this hotel is that from the moment you walk into reception, it feels clean, modern, and welcoming. The family room we booked was surprisingly spacious and bright—I honestly didn’t expect to get such a large room for a family. More hotels should take note and offer proper double beds for families! The room even had a comfortable seating area, which was a great bonus. The only minor downside was the lack of hair conditioner. I always wonder why, in this day and age, hotels don’t provide it as standard. Many travellers rely on small travel-sized bottles, so finding it in a hotel always feels like a thoughtful touch. Other than that, everything was perfect, and we would definitely stay here again.

I often stay at Van Der Valk as “you know what you get”, which is usually high standard for affordable price. Whilst this hotel outside of Genk had spacious rooms, very comfortable beds it had several drawbacks which you would not expect. Small things like no separate light switch for bathroom (same switch as for the bedroom) but the worst aspect was that the rooms were not soundproof at all. Noise and conversations from street level clearly heard in our rooms. That is unusual for Van der Valk which usually gets the basics spot on. The area of the hotel is really strange and you should only see this as a “motel” as you need a car to get anywhere sensible.

The hotel is excellent. The room was very good with a comfortable bed and breakfast is amazing. The only downside is that the bus does not run at the weekend so it is a 15 min walk to the tram stop at the hospital.

Nice hotel but located in an industrial area, so you need to take a taxi to get to the city center (the bus does not pass by during the weekends). Great hotel with high room standards, as always for Van der Valk hotels. 3 restaurants + skybar in the hotel. We ate at two of them. Had a 6 course meal at Mr. Sato which unfortunately was on the average (it was saved by the meat dish and a very good dessert) so there is room for improvement (waited 20 min for a non-alcoholic beer after having reminded 3 waiters. The cutlery was not changed between the different courses, just left straight on the table which had no table cloth. Not quite the standard you expect for a EUR 80 meal). Overall a good hotel experience and Gent was a beatiful city.

While it’s in an industrial area - perfect for the arena nearby - it’s also extremely welcoming, comfortable and family friendly. The food (breakfast and dinner) were both standout, the room was spacious and comfortable and the staff very friendly. The whole place is very tranquil. We’ll definitely go back.

Another great stay at this hotel for us as a family. When ever we have the opportunity to stay in Belgium we chose Van der Valk for simply great servive we receive. This year on our return to UK from our trip to Europe we chose this hotel again and our experience again was lovely. We stayed in the family suite and it was so lovely. Perfect for a family of four, our 5 year old loved it. Lots of little lovely details such as wash pack especially for children! Lovely cot available at an extra charge.

Stay was fine but horrible location. Very industrial buildings all around, terrible views in every direction. Ghent was having their annual 10 day music fest and therefor NO bus service to this area…very inconvenient and extra unplanned expense having to use uber and taxis 2-3 times a day.
