Paper Plane Hostel

would love to go back to this hostel if I’m solo travelling! clean rooms and bathrooms. even if it gets messy in the CR, they clean it up immediately. there are also free drinks and you can use the microwave to heat food you bought outside. would love to hangout with other guests if I didn’t have my anti-social friend with me 😅 the only thing I had a hard time was not having a full body mirror. I had to use the window at night on the lobby to see my reflection as an alternative to the full body mirror. other than that, everything’s perfect especially the location! no curfews and literally steps away from Huoyi station, 7/11, family mart, watsons and px mart! also note that I bought my towel in watsons since they don’t provide towels. Referring this hostel to my friend who’s also going to Kaohsiung this May!

I stayed at Paper Plane Hostel and was disappointed by the attitude of the front desk staff on duty from 16:00 to 22:30 on March 2, 2025. She lacked a welcoming demeanor, never smiled during our check-in, and appeared exhausted and stressed. When explaining the hotel rules, her voice was too low to hear, so I politely asked her to speak up. While she complied, her response was irritated and harsh. Having traveled to Taiwan since 2023, this was the first time I encountered such an unprofessional front desk officer—acting more like a boss than a hospitality staff member. This is a hotel, not a library; a warm and friendly atmosphere should be a priority. On the morning of March 4, she was on duty again, displaying the same cold and unapproachable attitude. Despite wearing a face mask, her expression and demeanor clearly reflected negativity. During our checkout, she didn’t even say “thank you” or “goodbye” to us. We checked out late but were willing to pay the excess fee, as I had difficulty packing. However, she repeatedly opened the men’s room and kept reminding us about the checkout time, even though we had already acknowledged it. This left us walking out of the hostel feeling frustrated and disappointed. While the facility itself was great, this staff member’s attitude was a major letdown. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcome, and her rigidity and unfriendliness negatively impacted our stay. In contrast, the staff on duty on March 3 were friendly and professional. Unfortunately, due to this unpleasant experience, I would not recommend this hostel unless management improves their customer service.
