Cathedral Gate Hotel

Excellent location. Excellent breakfast. Very helpful staff.Narrow and steep staircases so maybe not good for persons with a disability.

Convenient to city center and very historic. Staff was great and room was small but had everything we needed.

We didn’t really use any of the hotel amenities. We were there only one night and just slept there. I didn’t realize though that there was no air conditioning and of course it was a heat wave happening and there was no elevator. The staff was very helpful with carrying our 4 pieces of luggage up some very step stairs to our room. We left at 4am, so we did not use the free breakfast.

This hotel is all about the location, the significance of the building and the friendliness of the people. You are literally in the gate of the Cathedral, our room looked out on it. The building has been a hotel or pilgrim hostel since records were kept. The room is obviously dated and they have mostly done what they could to keep it up to standard. But the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Lovely breakfast. Parking is paid at the hotel, just park at the cathedral lot and you get the hotel rate sorted at the hotel.
