Chateau Nova Kingsway

Probably was the classy hotel back in the day, but we were satisfied with what we had and the bed was good and the rooms are roomy

Agoda's filters presented this property amongst airport hotels, presumably because it is on the corner of Kingsway and "Airport Road," the latter signifying a former small airport closed decades ago and today an industrial wasteland. As such, there is no airport shuttle (on phone enquiry the reception clerk's reply was, "Uhhh, I don't know, I don't think so." In light traffic it is 40 minutes from YEG, costing CAD 71 cab or CAD 35 Uber. Upon my arrival after midnight, the first-day-on-the-job clerk took at least 15 minutes to check in the single guest in front of me. The property appears to be quite modern, but with signs of wear throughout; carpets and paint and woodwork perhaps not overdue, but definitely now due for refinishing or replacement. Light bulbs were noticeably missing from foyer candelabra fixtures and from the broken one of three table lamps in my room, said lamp also featuring grubby streaks or fingerprints (likewise on the curtain.) Visible accumulations of dust were everywhere. My room was in the 'annex' building, a misnomer, as it is separated from the main building by a parking lot. The view from my room featured a weedy, torn-up former air field and the hotel restaurant's dumpsters (nothing screening them from view.) The hotel restaurant serves nice food, reasonably priced, with reasonable service. The server for my two breakfasts was possibly the most cheerful person imaginable. The restaurant's seating upholstery was quite dirty, long overdue for either a cleaning or replacement. The bed was clean and comfy, the room quiet except for a steady squeak from the ventilation fan, one I could ignore. The TV offerings and remote control were uncomplicated. WIFI worked great. I always check for bedbugs, no findings. Upholstery on the chairs in my room had grease spots/stains. It was my own inattention that led me to book this 'not filthy but well on its way' hotel listed as an 'airport' hotel, so please be aware that it is not.

Helpful staff,quiet comfortable

I stayed here because of the location , I had to be someplace in the morning and wanted to sleep in a bit. It is an ok place to stay if you don't want free breakfast, and a tiny y t.v to watch ( good incentive to go for a walk). They also had a good selection of tea. For me not enough worth it for the money. But thats just my opinion
