Showed up and was offered a choice of rooms. Chose the one in the picture. It was great. Staff were fantastic, very accommodating.
Only thing missing was a breakfast, but I knew it wasn't part of the deal when I booked, so no complaints. The location is pretty central, close to busy centre and also the sea. I would book it again, if I could get the same room.

The location is okay-ish, but had I known Montevideo better, I had chosen a hotel in Pocitos instead. The old town is pretty dead and the hotel is in a regular business/residential area, nothing special to see there.
The building is very old (colonial style, which in itself is pretty cool) and so are the rooms. The wooden window blinds don't really darken the room, the windows are not shutting close at all so it is very noisy due to motobikes and cars passing by all the time. The furniture also needs an update. The bathroom is also very old, but - some mold aside - pretty clean. the bed is big and comfortable.
There is no breakfast available (also not for a fee). The hotel staff is very friendly but does not speak a word of English. Paying in UYU is possible, but the rate is super shitty, so better pay in USD.
Overall it's okay for a couple of days but certainly not a longer stay. Due to the fact that there's a huge shortage of hotel rooms in Montevideo, it still seems like a decent deal.
