We have stayed at Elena before and although the rooms are small, they are clean and well kept. Is an excellent location and they provide good accommodation for travellers on a budget.

I honestly don’t know where to start. Sure, the location is amazing since you’re right around the corner from the main Kalamaki road that has all the shops and restaurants, and the place was cheap so that’s something. What I didn’t expect was that my room looked nothing like the ones in the pictures. It was quite old and had a bit of a musty smell. I was charged €8 per day for the A/C which was an annoyance. For the power to be on in the room the key has to be inserted in the slot so I couldn’t charge any of the devices I had with me while I was out. Even though I’ve stayed there for 4.5 days I never got my towels changed and I got 3/4 of a toilet paper roll once the first one was about to be finished. The pool area was okay and the best thing about it were amazing sun beds, but that pool needs some scrubbing and the water wasn’t the cleanest. The people working there were a mixed bag, one lady was extremely friendly but we couldn’t communicate the best. I asked if I could order a taxi to the ferry port early on my last day, where she told me there was no rush as it was only a 5min drive. I showed it on the map to say it’s almost 15min, and in my Ferryhopper app the name of the location and the ferry, just to have the taxi driver without even asking dropping me off at the airport within 3 min, and then getting annoyed and passive aggressive at me for having to drive me elsewhere (him being rude had nothing to do with the hosts though though, but added to confusion and frustration). The other person working at the reception area despite my greetings every time I passed never said a word back. As someone that is trying to be as polite and out of everyone’s way as possible it all just made me a bit disappointed, especially because this was my first proper vacation in the last 7 years.
