    My husband and I pride ourselves on the non-commercial roadside motels. That's where we always stay when we travel. We have never walked out on a motel. Until last night. We didn't even stay the one night we had booked. There was no light in the bathroom, black mold along the bathtub, no toilet paper holder, numerous poorly patched holes in all the walls. All the furniture including both the beds were broken in one way or another, no phone in the room, no TV remote TV did not work, could not connect to the Wi-Fi, found a whole toenail in the carpet next to the bed, and the piece did a resistance, cockroaches for roommates. The staff was pleasant and tried their best with what they were working with but when the Cockroaches came out at 11:00 p.m., that was that. We opted to leave and drive 2 hours home as opposed to staying in that motel room.
